1490LMT Picture Viewer

I transferred several pictures to a 8GB memory card on my Garmin. Here is my problem: When I touch the slide show icon the GPS immediately turns itself off. Any ideas as to why?

I noticed that when I added pics to the memory card, the screen went black for a period before the pictures came into view. The size and number of files determined the length of time they came into view. I too thought it has shutoff but that wasn't the case.

My 1690T does the same thing. I had a few very high resolution photos on the memory card (a fast, class 6 card, I might add) that caused the picture viewer to not display any pictures nor thumbnails. Only restarting the device and removing the high-res pictures fixed it.

What was the maximum Resolution that Worked

What was the highest resolution that worked? I removed 2 folders of pictures and left 1 folder and it works with this combination. There are a few pictures that are 2.5 megabytes.

What was the highest resolution that worked

This was a good question not answered by Garmin. While waiting for the STUPOR BOWL to start I thought I could look into it. I have a file of historic ships to visit on this forum and mine has 121 photographs of each ship loaded on a 2 gig card. Using Photoshop I found all but 1 was a 4 by 5 photo. The Yorktown was 49 by 33 inches (wow). I will make it smaller. Every photograph loaded perfect so that was not a problem.
I then took a photograph file of 150 8 by 10's (about 2500kb each)and added it on the card and then tried to look at them. The original loaded fast but then it took about 7 seconds each to load a 9 picture thumbnail screen. I guess the question is what size are your photographs?. Now I will delete those extras.
I did this on my 1450.
