Speed Alerts - 1 mph

I'm pretty new to this, but loaded some POI files for various things including speed cameras and red light cameras. Every now and then I get a Speed Alert 1 mph notice. Was the file setup incorrectly to flag an alert at 1 mph instead of the speed limit? If so, how do I fix it?

Thanks,

You probably have a POI file

You probably have a POI file with the number "1" in it. POI Loader interprets numbers in the file name as speed alerts. You can over-ride this by running POI Loader in manual mode and unchecking the check box.

Or change the file name to eliminate the number.

Correct, but ...

Correct. But, according to POI Loader Help, if the name of the individual POI within the file has a number in it, it takes priority and the manual mode won't override it.

But doesn't it have to have

But doesn't it have to have the @ symbol in the POI name for that to happen?

For example, MainSt@30.

Manual mode won't necessary change alert

What I was trying to say (not very good at it) is the manual mode will not necessary put in a wanted alert if the POI within that file contains an alert.

"Speed information included in the name of the individual Custom POI. For example, a POI named "SpeedZone@30" will have an alert speed of 30 regardless of the speed information specified in Manual mode or in the file name."

Also:
"If a file contains "GATSO," "mobile," "SPECS," "safety," "speed," or "camera," but does not have a speed, POI Loader uses a default alert speed of 0". Maybe that's the problem.

My alerts are virtually useless

Yesterday I downloaded the Red Light Camera POI file to my NUVI 350. This afternoon I did a test run of about 25 miles back and forth to my office and a client.

1) The alerts come on VERY far in advance. In a dense urban setting such as Queens NY where there are lights on almost every corner, the alert some times comes on 2 or 3 blocks from the actual camera. This is not good!

2) In the immediate vicinity of my home there are about 5 or 6 cameras. The alert comes on even if not traveling in the direction of the camera, example, While traveling west on a street one block north of the camera pointed south the alert came on. This is most definitely a bad thing to happen.

Rename file and load in manual mode

The alarms are normally sufficient, about a 1/4 mile, however living in the city is a different situation. As noted in previous posts, you need to rename the file to avoid certain words. Possibly rename it as "Lights". Then, load the file with POI Loader in manual mode and set the proximity distance to a more appropriate distance.

This should solve your problems.

red light proximity

I live in staten island and like you said, cameras all over, I dont have full red light file yet but i am building my own till I am able to download. When you load file load manual then set distance to 1000 feet a little over 3 football fields and you should be fine

I will try that and see if it works, however since I am not the most tech sophisticated person, if I have trouble I will stick with it as is sad I hope to try the manual configuration some time tomorrow.

Alert comes on within a radius of .....

I think it happens because GPS sees a camera within a specified distance of radius.
I think my Nuvi 350 alerts even I passed the camera until I am out of specified range.

That also happens to me. I will give the manual load a try and specify a distance for the alert.

I thought it was just

I thought it was just supposed to work like that because it was a proximity alert. I get alerts when I'm near, not even on the street. Not right?
