Speed warnings

After downloading some POIs including Redlight cameras and Speed cameras to my Nuvi 660 I am now getting some speed warnings as I travel about town. There are no speed cameras in use in my area so I am not sure what is causing it. I get a warning tone a red banner and a 11mph speed alert when this happens. Any idea on what may be causing this?

This is typically caused by one of the files you are loading having numbers in the file name.

Numbers

Yep. If you check your POI files I'm sure you'll find that you have one with the number 11 in the name. Numbers in the file name will trigger alerts every time.

Thanks Box Car. So I went

Thanks Box Car. So I went back and looked at the POI files I have downloaded, all from this site and one was called "Bank_of_America_ATMs__USA_11_23_10" So if I understand you correctly if I were to change that file name to just "Bank of America" that may solve the problem am I understanding you correctly?

Ok thanks, good to know!

To my file makers out there

I have renamed this file so that others do not have this same issue.

Please do not put numbers in your file names guys.

Miss POI

That's correct

Eliminate the numbers in a file name and speed alerts will stop. However, there may be times when you want a speed alert, and putting a "speed" as part of a file name is a quick and easy way of setting a default alert for all the locations.

As to renaming files, be certain any icon and sound file names also match except for the file extension.

If you run POI Loader in manual mode, you can select "no alert". I have a poi file for 7-Eleven Stores, and when the loader reaches it, it wants to include an alert. Loading in manual, it's a simple check box to eliminate the alert. I normally load in manual, as I like to set a different alert distance for RLCs.

Tucson folks

I've had a few on River west of La Cholla lately. The closest Camera is on La Cholla north of River. Any Tucson folks get this too? I only have the Red Light and Speed cams on my GPS, no other POI's
