Target Black Friday Magellan Deal. (Online) Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT Wrong!

Hmmm....Did anyone else purchase the Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT via Target online and recently got a notice that they made a mistake about it being bluetooth....Kind of shady to me. Even though they gave it to me the same price, now I have to wait after Xmas...

.

Shady?

You don't HAVE to wait until after Christmas if you need a unit now. The vendor has provided you with the means to go out and buy any other unit that strikes your fancy from him or anyone else if you can't or simply don't want to wait the month.

I suppose shady would have been to keep your money and tell you that they were shipping a lesser model, or worse shipping nothing at all and sticking out their tongues at you, which is one reason you purchased from Target; They don't operate that way.

Not shady, but certainly not classy would have been to send you a message saying that your shipment is delayed and NOT giving you the option of optimg out by refunding your money.

Classy is to give you back your money and offer to preserve the deal for when they do have inventory in a month. If the price goes down then you will benefit. If it goes up then you are protected.

Presumably it was a hot deal in the first place.

Outright Dishonest !

.
I too ordered the Garmin 1450 LMT on Black Friday from Target. Today I received the same email notifying me that Target had canceled my order due to the” misinformation" the company had provided. If I were still interested I would need to re-order and use a new "special" promotion code.

My problem revolves around the fact that Target is not offering me (or anyone else) the same enhanced promo price offered on Black Friday. I have no doubt that thousands of other Target customers find themselves in the same situation.

Target has a $30 Garmin discount promo code, that when applied on Black Friday dropped the price to $129. The final cost with shipping and tax was $144. Today Target will no longer honor that price, and that in my opinion, is the primary reason for the orders being arbitrarily canceled by Target.

In addition there is an obvious supply issue exacerbated by the price) i.e. no longer honoring before Christmas delivery.

Today, Target will ship me the same item that I ordered on Black Friday for $144 with a pre-Christmas delivery date for $166 with an after-Christmas arrival. Target has no problem supplying me the advertised product if I am willing to pay an additional $22 and wait a month.

The $30 Target Garmin Promo Code is still applicable, but only when applying it to the full current full retail price of $319 despite the information provided in my notification. I could apply the code on Black Friday, but cannot today unless I want to discount the full retail price. Honest? Fair? I think not.

The proper course of action for Target would have been to notify customers of the "misinformation", giving the consumer the option of processing or canceling their order.

Instead, Target chose to cancel every order and not offer re-ordering at the enhanced Black Friday price. Such practices are not only "shady" they are outright dishonest.

Vendor and supply issues, pricing and promo errors are common. The manners in which the errors are handled ultimately define the company. I worked for 22 years in the corporate retail world...anyone who believes that dishonest practices do not occur is sadly misinformed. Most consumers are savvy enough to realize that Target obviously is not being forthright in this situation.

I will file a Department of Consumer Affairs Complaint and hope that others will take the time to do the same. Shining a bright light on dishonest practices is the only way to keep shady retailers in check.

Totally SHADY!

I take that back, it wasn't the same price....I had that same code for the discount which made it $145.00..

Smells like a bait and switch to me....

And that is why I believe it is SHADY... The definition of SHADY is "of dubious character" To have TARGET do this shows a "DOUBTFUL or DUBIOUS character" in their part...SHADY...

OK, I stand corrected. It wasn't a fair deal . . .

However they do have the right to cancel your order if they haven't charged your credit card - you didn't say whether they did or not.

It isn't 'shady' in thse sense that they aren't blackmailing you, but for the fact that they raised the price and admitted that they removed the Bluetooth feature from the offer (which clearly shouldn't have been there in the first place, since the quoted model number doesn't have Bluetooth). The choice t proceed or to abandon the transaction remains your decision to make.

Note that any complaints should be made to Target Customer Service before going to the authorities;

I would point out that based on the specification error (i.e. that they told you that the unit included Bluetooth when in fact it does not) should be accompanied by a DISCOUNT from the offered price, not an increase in addition to removing the advertised value-added feature.

I'm caught up in this mess

I'm caught up in this mess too. my credit card hasn't been charged. I also ordered the 1300LMT from best buy for $130, which I already got. I figured someting like this would happen, but I was betting on bestbuy being the one cancelling orders! I would have preferred the 1450LMT for $10 more.

Black Friday

Bummer...by then you will have to get nuvi updates...

It sucks but that's life

Same thing here with myself and several friends. The rub is they send you the code to get a better deay and the better deal is actually $20 more without the bluetooth. Not that it is a bad price, mine is coing up $149, but to tak away bluetooth plus charge more while at the same time telling you are getting a better price than when you order, BS. No biggie, they can keep it, it's the principle of the matter.

Shame on Target

Well, I knew from the start that Target's addy for 1450 was faulty and there's no BT but I still ordered one for $135 (about $150 with tax). However, shafting consumers like that is really low-handed. Glad I canceled my order with Target in favor or Amazon's deal on 1490 - although reading about everyone having trouble with BT on it does give me a pause

I too have been had by Target

All the comments made by others apply to me too.
I ordered on 11/25 and called a week later to make certain it was shipping. They told me it was and the 12/8 to 12/17 delivery was still good. The next day I got the same email about the order being cancelled.
I talked to their customer service group no less than three times and emailed feedback at least three times. Every thing they say and do is rehearsed and repeated to everyone. There is no personal or customer service of any kind. The customer service people I talked to were located in the Phillipines.
Without going into great detail I will tell you that Target used this cancellation ploy to get around the fact that they had sold too many Garmin 1450 LMT GPS at the $159 price and they used the Bluetooth statement as a smokescreen.
What they did was definitely unethical and I think in the long run will cost them much more goodwill than they anticipated.
Like others stated if they really wanted to ship you a 1450 LMT without bluetooth (which we all know was not a 1490 LMT) they would have sent you an email and advised that you could cancel the order if you wanted to. It had nothing to do with the bluetooth. Target made one MAJOR ERROR in cancelling all our orders and they should have to pay for it accordingly. I doubt that all the discussions on these forums will result in anything positive but maybe if enough people complain it will reach national attention and reflect on Target accordingly.

Nuvi 1450 via target/ Amazon

Ordered the 1450 from Target using the Amazon Portal
Got the same letter canceling my order
Called Amazon, cried FOUL, got both of the 1450LMT with Bluetooth for $159 each. Just got them, 3 hours to do all the downloads and upgrades.
Took it for a ride, the traffic thingy work very well.
So far I'm impressed

Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT

I too ordered the Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT from Target. It is to be a Christmas gift. Got the same message as you all did. Only thing I don't have to complain about I didn't have that extra discount that you did. So I am actually getting a bit more of a break then before. But I really didn't care about that, I would just like to have it before Christmas. I did call Target and complained they did tell me if I want to upgrade shipping for $17 I might get it sooner. I would get it soon enough if they would just ship the thing.
I did decide to let my local tv station know about whats going on. I wonder if enough of us did that if there might be some action taken?

F target, better deal on the 1490lmt

Buydig.com has the Garmin 1490LMT for sale with special code "santa" for $169.95 with NO tax and Free shipping. You must add the code on the first page on the left hand side.

buydig code

Have you purchased from BuyDig before? are they a good company to deal with? I too purchased from Target on black friday and at $169 I'd rather have the 1490. I'll take the Target Garmin back.

Stop shopping at Target. I

Stop shopping at Target. I always buy my gps' from Costco or Amazon.com.

Target Came Through

I ordered the 1450LMT Thanksgiving, and used $30 coupon code - great final price. Got the same cancellation email early Dec 4. I tried to re-order, but could not re-apply the $30 coupon, so called customer service to complain. Spent 2 hours on the phone, much of it on hold. They ended up making the order for me at the new $10 cheaper price (for the inconvenience), and also applied the $30 discount. And it was delivered a few days ago.

The best price so far

This is the best price, I've heard of, for this unit so far this shopping season.

At least it came before

At least it came before Xmas, but lesson learned....I'm not shopping at Target Online anymore....Should have stuck to my trusty Amazon or Newegg....

Returned mine. Bought tom-tom 540tm for $95.
