Whenever I do a firmware or map update, I'll then do a hard reset.
After doing the hard reset procedure the unit will ask what country, what language and then I'll have to choose the voice, vehicle, avoidances etc. I'm certain the unit is resetting but what's odd is that my favorites reappear along with older favorites that I previously deleted.
I've done several hard resets and the favorites are always there. I've also tried deleting all favorites from the unit and then doing a hard reset and my favorites along with the older deleted favorites reappear.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening ? Other than that the unit works fine.
Cheers

When you connect the 255 to your computer and open up the Garmin folder then the gpx folder.Do you see any thing other then current.gpx? If yes delete the ones with the gpx extensions.Files outside the current.gpx file will reload to the current gpx once you re-boot.

Gpx Folder
I have an Archive folder which is empty and the Current.Gpx
I've also tried deleting the Current.Gpx and then doing a hard reset and get the same results as posted earlier.

Thats a new one on me.When you say hard reset. You are following this process below .Make sure to save copy of current.gpx
Edit
Start with the unit OFF and unplugged from power
Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil
Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the unit ON
Release the power button when the device powers ON
You will see a new message: Do you really want to erase all user data?
Remove your finger from the touchscreen when this message displays
Touch Yes
The device will automatically reset. Follow the on screen prompts then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

That's what I did and all my favorites along with a few old ones previously deleted are still there.

How about a sd card in the unit? That may be loading to the gps.You did say you went on unit and deleted the favorites manually?

.
I did the hard reset without the sd card and yes I also manually deleted all the favorites before doing the hard reset.
Very strange indeed.

What do you have on the sd
What do you have on the sd card?Try this.Delete the favorites manually with the sd card out again.Do hard re-set.Keep the sd card out and reboot the gps.Now see if the favorites are there. If no put the card back in and reboot again. Now see if favorites have returned.A guess but most likely what is on the card is reloading to favorites.Do you have a gpx file on sd card that is not in a folder?
