I'm using win. xp and can't see the file extensions. I know I have to do something on the control panel but I can't remember what. (Senior Moment)Can anybody help?

Open an instance of windows explorer, then:
Tools-->Folder Options-->View
uncheck "hide extensions for known file types.

To view file extensions:
Open windows explorer (file manager). From the menu select tools – folder options – view. Uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types”. Click “Apply to all folders”.
Select “OK”.

This is one of the most annoying Windows XP default settings, in my opinion. Each time I installed a system or go to a new system, the first thing is to go to Folder Options and uncheck hide file extension. (My comment may be off topic but this post is off topic in the Garmin Talk board anyway.

He mis-clicked. The Garmin talk and Open talk drop-downs are right next to each other. How many times have each of us mis-clicked on a drop-down?
