GTM25 connection bent - Fixable?

I have a 255WT with the GTM25 FM Traffic Receiver. Recently, the metal end that plugs into the back of the GPS was damaged. Being that the GTM25 is so expensive, could I snip the end off of a standard vehicle power cable and splice it on the end of the GTM25?

My guess

I don't think that regular power cable can replace traffic receiver. In normal cable there is need only for power connection when traffic receiver needs in addition at least one cable to connect to unit. And cable in traffic receivers is used as antenna also.

Maybe it will be possible to exchange plug from other GTM25 but I'm almost positive that it will not work correctly with plug from regular power cable. And it may degrade badly reception of traffic info.
It may be simpler and cheaper to check how much garmin wants for replacement then redoing whole plug.
