quick I need help deciding

Got to admit that I’ve been away from the GPS scene for almost two years, after a long very long trip in 2008 I parked my Nuvi260 in a drawer and haven’t been around the POI-Factory to keep up with the newer models and features.

So I need some help in making up my mind on which GPSr to buy next, I had my eyes on the soon to be released Nuvi 2350LMT for $269 for a couple reasons, I want a GPSr with routes and this one has 100, also it has the Traffic Trends and My Trends features, if you own a unit with those features how good and important do you find them?

My other choice based on price $179.99 is the 1490T on sale this week, it only has 10 routes (I guess that is enough) it doesn’t have the Trends features but it has Bluetooth(not important to me)

The 1490T has mixed reviews, enough to scare a potential buyer; the 2350 is an unknown beast.

Come on guys give me your 2½ cents opinion, I got until Saturday for the 1490T at the current price.

I would wait

I would wait till the Friday after Thanksgiving (black Friday), since you have been away for such a long time, a few more weeks will save you a few bucks for your patience on either of the units.

I still use my 360...works great, and I took what I would have spent, and bought more FORD stock, and I made some money!

Why not just keep using what you already have?

I hear you, my 260 still serves me well locally but the map is from 2007/08, and I always wanted a GPSr with Route capabilities.

Planning another long trip next year out west and don't want to be caught without Routes like it happen in 2008 with my trip to Alaska where I had to constantly use a paper map to force the 260 to go my way.

Nuvi 1450

If you don't need bluetooth or traffic, look at the Nuvi 1450. It has the same features as the 1490 but without traffic and bluetooth. I love mine.

nuvi

I got the Nuvi 1300 not long ago and think it's great, widescreen, and very reasonable pricing now. 1 free update too.

GPS Suggestion

I suggest you look into the Tom Tom 550 XXL GPS. It has free Life time Map updates and Life Time Traffic update. As with all GPS Mapping you'll find errors in direction but i have found that the Tom Tom has fewer. I've used the Garmin, Magellan, & Delorme. I found one priced around $150.
I like the Delorme Laptop program when traveling in my Coach. I have a 17" screen that gives me a good view when turn offs are present.

2360?

I have a 200W & a 765T. Use them mainly in the car, but the 765T I want to use on scooter trips.

I was going to wait later in the year to maybe catch a sale on the 2360LT or LMT mainly for price, routes, lane assist, speech recognition, and Bluetooth.

I jumped on a $118 295W and $69 Lifetime map card meanwhile. Now I'm hooked on Wi-Fi for use on trips as well! So I'll wait to see what combinations develop later, I guess.

I still want cheap, mp3 & a jack, Routes, Lane assist, and now Wi-Fi as my deciding options. Speech rec & Bluetooth as well would throw me directly at something though.

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

765t

I have the Nuvi 765t and love it.

I vote for lifetime map updates

I have had two garmins-- like them quite well. But hate the annual map update cost-- so, I would put lifetime map updates in the mix.
I am not familiar with these models-- still using my 265wt

Choice

Picked up a 765T refurbished at a great price working fine.

Map Updates

Map Updates for me aren't crucial, but are a consideration..

I think you need to make that call on past performance in an area that you're likely to travel in. In my major Maryland suburb of D.C., there have been only minor corrections to places where I travel & need 'perfect' maps, between the CNNT 2008 and CNNT 2011.2 map releases. The major road alignment change in a major traffic area that was completed about (over?) a year ago has NOT been updated yet. So for that reason, annual updates aren't a pressing issue to me. When a release correctly shows it, or a major US highway changes then I'll be convinced an update is worth doing.

Having said that, when you can get a lifetime upgrade card cheap or when lifetime maps are only $30-$40 difference in a unit's cost then I find that compelling.

I agree, what for black Friday to get better prices. I have an old 680 that works great but my newer 1690 is much better.

I heard you can get good deals on-line the Monday after Thanksgiving without having to fight crowds on Black Friday.
