Pedestrian mode

I have a 1490T and sometimes when I'm driving on the highway a little pop up windows asks if I want to switch to pedestrian mode. I have the latest software installed. Why is it doing this?

sorry posted twice

Ignore the 2nd post done by accident

Don't know why, I found

Don't know why,
I found pedestrian mode not to useful.
Why it keeps bothering you as a pop up I haven't heard of here or on other sites before. Otherwise I would try to link it for you Please keep us advised what you find.

big truck

Sorry, I'm not familiar with a "1490T" truck... is it a big rig?

I drive a Titan pick-up... probably not a relevant comparison I imagine (I don't get the error you do).

My guess

My guess is it does that when your speed is low for a period of time?

I just got a 295W and the first thing I noticed is that even though I have it set to Automobile in preferences, unless I'm moving above about 3mph or so it goes automatically into Pedestrian mode.

It's annoying, but since I don't get a prompt about it I can live with it for now. I consider it a bug or poor design of a "dual use" device. I figured they thought 295W users would be walking more than driving or something razz

1450 also

This just happened to me on my new 1450 lmt. I was driving in a *very* slow moving backup in DC, when the switch to pedestrian question popped up. Made me laugh now, but I hope it doesn't get old.

mmmmmmnnnnnn

TITAN!

It shouldn't happen unless

It shouldn't happen unless you are at a slow moving pace as stated before.

That is funny though that it did ask you grin

The pedestrian mode

My 1490t only does it when I'm walking. The 295w usually does it when using the battery, unless I am in navigation mode. The irritation with the 295 is that I use 2d with track up view. Pedestrian mode reverts to north up.

Similar on a nuvi 500

Although it's the opposite. I take it hiking and forget to switch back to car mode. As I start to drive off, it prompts me. I like to say "No, I'm walking at 55 MPH" smile

Check your usage mode

Tools / Settings / System.

Is it set to Pedestrian?

On 295W both prefs can be set

On the 295W you can set automotive and pedestrian modes independently, and either to track up, north up, or 3d. I also changed my pedestrian mode 'vehicle' to the little ball & arrow so I'd know at a glance which mode it's in.

Good idea

Thanks JD
