Garmin 1450 - Problems deleting routes

I have a few routes in my Garmin 1450 in "My Data" that I want to delete.

Then I go to Tools/MyData/Delete Selected Route(s), but when I press on "Delete Selected Route(s)" to select the route(s), it turns off my GPS. Certainly a bug!

I have contacted Garmin Support about this.

Anybody experiencing the same problem?

Another way

I don't know the menus on the 1450, but is it possible to select "edit" a route, and in the next screen one of the choices may be "delete"?

Deleting Routes

Connect your unit to your computer and in the favorites folder if you see anything other than "current.gpx" delete it. The routes will be gone, and you will still have your favorites. wink

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

to add...

current.gpx will be regenerated & repopulated with your current favorites so no loss unless you delete all your favorites from the unit itself.

BTW: To answer your question, I have not had a problem with deleting routes turning off my unit. But, I have the 765t. I bet there are other units that do the same thing. Garmin will probably adddress that issue in a future patch. On the old C340 I have, my unit would cut off every time I saved a favorite, and I gave it a name that was too long.

Thank you. I had a current.gpx, a current1.gpx and a temp.gpx. I deleted them all and voila, the routes are gone from "My Data" folder, but not my favorites. Also a route that I had previously imported was not deleted. Exactly what I wanted to do. grin

Thanks to all for your help.

Route Deleting

I had the same problem with the 1450T. It turned off instead of deleting the route. Thanks for the advice to erase the saved route.

You welcome!

You are welcome. I had a similar instance where my created way points kept appearing in my Favorites. Deleting my .gpx files fixed it. I try to pass on what I have learned. You may have noticed, this website is very cordial place to be, and it is contageous. Lot of websites could learn a lesson from POI-Factory.

I fully agree with you groundhog, that's why I have been with POI-Factory for a little more than 3 years.
Thanks again.

I totally agree, this is a great site and has helped me quite a bit in fact with every problem I have had so far.

Me 2

I have the same problem. Garmin Support says use Webupdater... I did that and the checked that with Communicator plugin. Needless to say I needed some updates. That did not fix the problem.

But, one thing you can do is:
1) Copy current.gpx from the GPX folder to your hard drive.
2) Open the copy of current.gpx with Mapsource and make any changes necessary. I deleted some routes, waypoints and tracks.
3) Save the updates back to current.gpx
4) Copy the updated current.gpx back to your Garmin.

You should now have the Routes and Favorites the way you want them.

I am still trying to get Garmin to fix this issue.

OBTW - If you look in the Diag folder on your Garmin you will find an entry for each shut down. I sent this to Garmin Support.

I went through three 1390 units with this "feature". Each time it happened, I'd call Garmin and get an exchange unit.

Based on my conversation with them (this is an opinion) this is a "known feature" and they address it by doing an RMA and sending the end user a new unit.

I strongly suggest you get on the horn with them and tell them you're not happy about this and you'd like it taken care of.

yesss

God Bless You POI brothers. I had the identical problem and this fixed it. Hurray.

It has to be the unit

I took my 1450 and from main screen I chose Tools. Then I chose My data where the screen showed "SET HOME LOCATION", "Delete Selected Route(s), Delete Favorites, etc.
I deleted my favorites and my favorites file was empty. I redid my Data screen and Delete My Favorites did not show up.
