HELP--I cant find a way to delete my route file?

Using Mapsource I made a long trip and made waypoints to lock it down so that my garmin wouldnt recalculate a different route other than the way I wanted to go. I sent the file to my Garmin 765t, but never imported the route from the file because we decided to fly instead. Now, I want to delete this file, but dont see it on the Garmin, or on the file structure when connected to the computer.

To further explain, on the 765t I go to "tools", "my data", "import route from file". There is a file there I had named "Baltimore rd to American Lodge". Plain and simple, I want to remove this file, but i do not see it as deletable on the Garmin, and it is not listed when connected to the computer either. There are no custon routes listed under "Where To", "Custom Routes" either.

Also, for a while now, I been getting all of the waypoints showing up in my Favorites. I delete them, but they keep coming back! I have created custom routes before using Mapsource, but it has been a while, so dont remember how in the world I deleted them when I was done with them. Not sure, but if I just go ahead and "import route from file", the file will still remain. I thought I knew about my 765t, but maybe not!

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

BTW

BTW, I looked for FAQ files, and Googled for answers. Looked on POI Factory, but found nothing about how to do this specific little task.

The ones in

The ones in favorites.Connect unit back to computer and in the favorites folder if you see anything besides current.gpx delete it.You can also right click and open with notepad or use extra Poi Editor to see what they are.Once deleted go back and manually delete the favorites in the gps.

GPX files

The routes and favorites waiting for import are stored in GPX files. When your nuvi is connected to your computer, look for files in the \Garmin\gpx folder. Delete the GPX files you no longer need and they will no longer show up in MyData.

What alandb and charlesd45 said..

Imported routes are also in Current.gpx, and MapSource sends waypoints & routes to your unit in a file called Temp.GPX in the Garmin\GPX folder.

If you really want to 'prune' your Current.gpx and have a strong heart, load it into [XML Notepad](http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=72d6aa49-787d-4118-ba5f-4f30fe913628&displaylang=en) and you can delete the routes that way. You should do a backup and have some knlwledge of XML though.

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

The route and waypoints are in the PC

What they are saying is that the route and its waypoints are in the PC. They must be deleted there or they will keep getting reloaded into the GPS.

you all are right on!

You all are were right on! Deleting the gpx files, other than "current.gpx" seemed like what I should maybe do. Was a bit afraid to do it. I got frustrated with it and didnt think that all I had to do was back up the .gpx flies then just try it. Anyhow, much thanks to you all for the info/help!!

Not exactly, but that too..

Everything so far has been referring to files on the gps unit, but what you said (dobs108) as well!

They could be getting reloaded from your pc, too.

...written as groundhog was typing! Glad you got it fixed!

Glad you got it fixed. The same thing happens when you use Google to send to favorites.A file is created that loads to current.gpx once you boot the gps.The extra file still stays there. You can delete the favorites on the unit itself but until you delete the ones other then current.gpx they just re-load back.

Oh, I see...

So the file we are talking about is in a folder in the GPS, ready to load the route again and again. I thought it would be in the PC.

Yes on the drive of the

Yes on the drive of the gps.I use Google a lot to send favorites to the gps.Once in a while I always go back and delete them so they don't build up.Once they load into the current.gpx all they do is take of space.

Another way........

Another way to solve the original question was to simply go ahead and import the route you had uploaded. After that, it would be available to delete via the GPS.
