End of the line for the nuvi 7x5.

As we have been predicting for some time, it appears that Garmin is in the process of moving the remaining models of the nuvi 7x5 series to the discontinued list. I noticed on their website that the 7x5's are now at the bottom of the automotive list ... under the 2x5's. If you click on any of them, they show as "Discontinued product".

This leaves the 295W as the only current nuvi model with a media player.

It's been about 2 years since it was introduced

It's been about 2 years since it was introduced so actually it seems like they enjoyed a longer than normal production life.

7X5 discontinued models

Being discontinued doesn't mean "not supported" just means Garmin will not be manufacturing those models. The model to me is just the hardware and features. The maps are the critical part ... Hopefully, continued map updates will still be around for these models for a while.....

I would like another!!

I currently own the 765t and love it!! Especially after the 4.0 update which fixed my screen issues! I like it well enough I would even buy another one at a deep discount. Anyonw know, or hear of a great deal on one, hey, let me know. Probably others on PoiFactory who would like to know too!!

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

2 good sites to check

2 good sites to check are Ebay.com and Buy.com
Buy.com many times has free shipping and no tax. Over the years have never had a problem with items ordered from buy.com and they are usually the lowest or close to it. I would also give a thumbs up to the 765t since the software upgrade.

No more MP3s ?

Do you think GARMIN plans to eliminate MP3 players in all GPSr in the future?

--
I have seen the future and it is now!

Only Garmin knows for sure,

but it would sure appear that they are eliminating the feature.

I would

I would guess that YES the MP3 player will be eliminated.

Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.

Maybe

Maybe they should have rethought the cost of the Content Toolkit. Perhaps more & interesting Tour Guides would have helped keep Mp3 units alive.

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

I just checked.

Buy.com is $287.47
Newegg.com is $169.99

mp3 and Audible

I guess I'll have to keep my nüvi 760 running forever or else invest in another device. I use the mp3 player and the Audible player every time I travel for work. On long drives it really makes the time go faster. I figure I'm getting paid to listen to my book. smile

GPSMAP 76CSx - nüvi 760 - nüvi 200 - GPSMAP 78S

it's the garmin way

Wouldn't count the mp3 player down for the count, just yet
I have seen features disappear, only to return in later generations.

I bought mine for $279. at Costco 14 months ago. As much as I like the 765t, would like to see less than $150 before I would consider another one. Anyhow, thanks epiphany for the pricing!

I agree, the FM transmitter is the best way to listen to the directions.

I've not used the media player much at all

Personally, it is not a major feature for me, but I can understand why others might want it, particularly for longer trips.

If you think the 7x5 series is old, my 760 is getting quite long in the tooth at this point. The response time is annoyingly slow, but it still gets me where I want to go.

I'll have to check out the 765t as suggested... Looks like $185 from Amazon at the moment, while MacMall apparently has it for $175 and PCNation has a one for $170. All of these are refurbished, though... Hmmm...

Too bad

I really like mine since the fix, not seen one that i would want instead. The glass ones are nice but they are buggy just like the 7x5's were till the fix. And they are way to pricey atm.

2 DriveSmart 65's - We do not live in Igloo's and do not all ride to work on snow mobiles.

Would Love to hear my 765T through the speakers.

<sigh> I bet that's nice. Unfortunately the antenna in our Odyssey is in the rear side glass & won't pick it up.

One of the BEST yet!

cool

The recent news will not cause me to trade my unit in or upgrade to a newer one, that is the purpose after all.

I agree with others... with the recent fix, it is one of the best units out there. The speed alert was a bonus from Garmin.

"Destination Eternity" Garmin 765T, & Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Nuvi 755T and 765T are the best models

They are the best models in terms price and feature.

MP3

I like the MP3 player more for books that I have added to the unit than music. I would miss that feature.

Sorry To See It Go

Sorry to see the 7x5 series go. Personally I think it is the most feature rich series available. I picked one up in March because it had more things of interest to me than the newer models. Yes, there will still be software support for them but don't expect that to last more than a year or so. My C550 was dropped in 2008 and the last update was in mid-2009. There might be one or two more updates and from that point on, whatever is screwed up will remain screwed up.

I support the right to keep and arm bears.

MP3 Player

I use mine a lot. Guess I'll keep my 660. I have 2 older vehicles without any audio attachments or fancy wizz-bangs.

Maybe on newer vehicles its redundant... I don't know.
