thanks for the tip. I never knew how to do that and always waited till I got to my destination to do a search. Now I can do it before I leave home.
Thank you

Yes, that works fine. I never tried "Near" because it sounded too local to me.
One more way
Not sure about your model.Touch where to,cities and type in the city you want after touching spell at bottom.

@charlesd45, where to,cities will only locate another city. I believe the OP was asking how to search for POIs in another city.
@WAASup
Yes you are right on that .Missed the searching for pois.As a suggestion to the OP I just made a 7000 mile cross country trip.Using the search along the current route and especially the my destination worked great for me.For example going to a National Park using my destination from the near tab.It would show the hotels based on mileage from the end location.You know the hotels from 1 mile or less will be higher.Looking at 10 miles out you may get a lower price and may not be booked up.

It's Amazing What Distinguishes One Model From Another
Using a 755t, I "search along my current route" for POIs all the time. The results are ALWAYS shown by distance from my current location. Just like viewing "distance to destination", this POIs display method makes it easy to see what you're going to encounter along the way unless you pick one as a via point or new destination.

Simulator mode
Another option would be to put the device into simulator mode and then set the desired point as your current location and then look for POI nearby. This works best if you're stopped for the day and want to research stuff for the next day.
