Still the Same Problem With The nuvi 3790T

See “Trouble With nuvi 3790T”
Well, we’re back to the same @#$% thing with this unit.
Downloaded the wave files (as suggested) & put them on the unit, along with the Red Light Cameras and Speed Cameras and Rest Areas Combined.
Put them in in the Manual mode with the POI loader, however, they don`t show up under ``Proximity Points``.
Re-tried and loaded them in in ``Express Mode`. Now they show up but trying them out at the red light intersections IT DOESEN`T WORK!
I`m pulling my hair out!!!!
I`ve sent Garmin an e-mail about the problems but haven`t heard back from them.
I`ve also restored the unit but to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

ps I gave my C330 to my son but now I want it back!!!

Did you load SOX.exe, too?

Have you downloaded, unzipped and place sox.exe in the directory with your POI Loader file as well? Sox.exe is needed to be installed and be in the right place in your computer hard drive to hear wav files on nuvi GPS models

I'm not clear on your POIs themselves. After loading red lights and rest areas in manual mode with an alert distance set [what distance did you use, BTW?], do they appear as POIs? Touch WhereTo/Extras/CustomPOIs and you should see a line for each type of loaded POI; i.e., "Rest Areas Combined (Ver. AA)" and "Redlight-Cameras" etc. If they're not installed, they're not there. If they are there, then we need to ask more about how you've done things--but first, let's see if they're there.

Also, I don't know if the 3790T is like the nuvi 8x5 series, but for these models, we need to remove and reinstall the battery to reboot the nuvi for the new files to be seen after running POI Loader. If the 3790T has a removable battery, try pulling it out and putting it back in--that may cause the missing but loaded POIs to be seen.

[Edit--I see DorkusNimrod says a power cycle is needed as well--so follow his procedure if the 3790T battery is not easily removed. Newly added files may not be seen until the power is cycled as he says...]

.

The 37xx series has known issues with file writes to the unit under (at least) Win7 64-bit. The issue is with write caching of files...if you use the "safely remove" option to remove the nuvi from the PC, in some (unknown) cases, the files are not actually written to the unit. To verify the files copied/written to the unit are actually there, the known work-around is after copying/transferring *all* the needed files, wait ~30 seconds, then do NOT "safely remove" the nuvi but instead, just disconnect the unit by pulling the USB cord.

Note that you may also need to also power-cycle the unit for changes to take place. Turn the unit fully off (press and hold the power switch for ~5 seconds and follow the prompt), then power it back on.
