Just a few bucks more at CompUSA $169

There must be a new crop out because there's similar prices elsewhere. I've bought a total of 4 refurb Garmins from CompUSA/TigerDirect and all carried the full Garmin factory warranty, and standard map update.

1490T at Costco

I have a hard time understanding why someone wouldn't pay $60 more for a 1490T at Costco....Excellent unit with 5" screen and no hassle return policy. Kind of a no brain er if you can afford the extra $60.

A lot buy on price alone

A lot of buyers purchase based on price. I get this email every week and saw this link for the 765t and thought some would be interested.
I agree that money should not be the main consideration but in these tight times for some it is.

765T

Seems like a good price. The 765T really is a good unit, especially with the latest v4.00 update. I've had mine for 2 years and have had no major problems with it.

don't forget the Costco Membership fee

When you add the Costco membership fee to the cost it is suddenly a whole lot more than the $60 price difference. There are a lot of people that don't want to pay membership fees for something that is of little value to them.

If you purchase from

If you purchase from Tigerdirect/CompUSA/CircuitCity you can get another 15% cash back by going through Microsoft's Bing program but hurry because that's being shut down July 30th.

I just got a referb from

I just got a referb from Amazon (not a seller) for $169.99. So far I really like it. I've tired the 1490t and a couple of Magellans. This one seems to be a keeper.

Have to rephrase...

I will then say for those that already have a membership at Costco....didn't mean to join just to buy the GPS....

is this the best price?

is this the best price?

@farrissr

My intent was to point out there are other costs to consider when buying from a membership store. My wife and I wouldn't recoup the membership cost as we don't buy in bulk and there are so few other items offered we would consider. There is no store that close to us offering gas, and the savings is only a few cents per unit, so any savings is lost in the extra driving distance.

Costco, Sam's, BJ's and the other stores are great if you do enough other buying to offset the membership fee.

Keep in mind that you can still purchase things from Sams Club without a membership, but in store only. Go to Samsclub.com, scroll to the bottom of the main page and look for the green bar. On the far right box you will see Help in yellow text. Just below that click on the Contact us link, which will take you to a search box. Type in "one day pass" and then on the next page click on the first link (1. One Day Pass) when it opens, print the coupon. You will then be allowed to enter a Sams of your choice and purchase whatever you like on that visit. You will have to pay a 10% Service change, but will not have to buy a membership.

Also, Costco.com will let you purchase anything available on the web site only. At check out you will be charged an additional 5% surcharge to the listed price online. Note, this is not possible at the store level, only online.
