Garmin says my GPSmap 378 is not capable of uploading POI's

I just shelled out $60 for a 128MB data card with the hope of uploading some the the excellent POI files on this site. When Garmin's POI loader failed to recognize my GPS I called Garmin. The tech support guy told me that the GPSmap 378 is not capable of uploading POI's, even if I use the Data Card programmer.

I find this hard to believe, and I know that Garmin's tech support folks are not always up to speed on the units they support.

I can upload the POI's as waypoints directly into my unit, but doing this limits me to 3000 WPT's. Has anyone else figured out if a 378 with a data card is capable of being loaded with POI's?
