Can't get the Catagories out of my Garmin 1390T

I updated the Nuvi 1390T with that latest patch from Garmin using the Garmin web updater today. And now i noticed all my favorites seems to get jumbled , So I wanted to remove my favorites off my Garmin 1390T. I deleted them, then I plugged it in to the PC and removed the GPX files, But the Catagories I created are still in there when I edit a favorite. crying

How do I get rid of the catagories I created and clean them out. surprised

.

Delete the POI's inside the categories on the unit. After that, the categories delete themselves if they're empty.

POI's are gone

Thats the problem, all the POIs are gone I purged the favorites and killed the GPX files, Do I need to purge the PIO files and reload them?

I would certainly do that. You may have a dual set on the unit (current.gpi and a temp.gpi, check that). Use the POI Loader to remove them, and then check for categories again. They shouldn't be there.

Any on an SD card that may be loading?

The OP is talking about Categories in the Favorites not Categories in the Custom POIs.

I don't think that there is a easy way to do this.

If you remove all the Favorites from a certain Category, then that Category will be deleted.

So the way to go about it would be to edit each Favorite to remove the Category for each one and then reassign the Categories.

Trying again

This time I went through SD card and Garmin files, removed all POI's and the GPX files, rebooted and now I will check again. They came back and not all of them. evil

Anybody know what file are they in so i can execute them. twisted

Look for *.gpi files.

I wasted all the favorites....

I wasted all the favorites boot the unit click favorites it says all data is gone.

I add 1 favorite to the unit, then edit it, go down to catagories and &*^^&%$^&$$^#@#%*(&*( ALL the old catagories are still there they are all empty now.

Anybody know which file I should kill to remove the catagories in Favorites????? I only get some back not all its like it had a select list, NY, NJ, MN, Texas But it does not bring back the TN catagory I added earlier today.

Before I erased the favorites they seemed all jumbed together after I did the web Updater. If I do a HARD RESET will that remove my vehicles, or should I just take a hammer to this unit and get one that works???? cool

AH AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

OK, I now did a hard reset, and erased all my data.
(Turn the unit on with your finger on the screen in the right corner till it asks if you really want to waste it.)

Connected it back to the PC put back 15000 plus Poi's (it's a good thing I back these up).

I added 1 favorite to favorites, I then edited the category for the 1 favorite annnnnnddddd TA DAAAAAAA, shock it's finally empty (I am now doing the dance of joy; it looks like the Macarena only slower and without so much enthusiasm, Now you try and get that image out of yer mind). mrgreen

I will now type in my Australian Lee Voice to sum this up: "Bloty Heall Mate, What gives, Crimmy, Its enough to make you SPEW.... mad "

Next time I see a hammer in my nuvi's future.

A hammer?

No, you just need to look for the answer, like now. Problem solved, nuvi safe.

Patience, friend. We all have to learn new tricks at times. wink

1390T POIs on SD card

Anyone know how I can get the 1390T to quit asking me if I want to transfer my POIs from the SD card to the unit? They provide such little memory that the less left on the unit the better. Had no problem with my 265T since it asked me if I wanted it to stop asking. However the 1390T doesn't seem to have that option. Thanks.

Based on comments from other

Based on comments from other users it doesn't have that option. Most units you could answer yes and it would bring up next screen and would give option to stop asking from there instead of loading to gps..
