Schedule Stops in MapSource

Does anyone know how to schedule overnight stops in MapSource? I have created a route over 2000 miles long with waypoints located at POIs where I would like to stop along the way. MapSource tells me the duration of the trip is 1 day. I don't see any options to adjust the lenght of stay at any waypoint. Also, there is no estimated travel time between waypoints.

I know I can use MS Streets & Trips to do this but Streets & Trips does not work with POI files. I'd just like to simplify one routing product.

Any thoughts?

Schedule Stops in MapSource

I use MS streets & trips to do all my trip planning. I import custom poi's from here into it all the time. Then you can see where your stops are and if they have things from the poi's.

That's one of the failings

Scheduling stops in Mapsource is one of the failings of the program as a trip planner. The easiest solution is to break the trip into segments with each day separate. The starting point for each segment would be where you spent the night with the ending point the next overnight spot.

As others have posted, regular trip planning software does a much better job at handling this as you can plan in fuel, eating, and rest breaks.

Import POIs into MS Streets & Trips

How do you add custom POIs? Do you use the "Import Data Wizard" to import CSV POI files?

love...

Love mapsource, i hope garmin keeps the concepts and improves it every year.

Import POIs into MS Streets & Trips

You need to use the import wizard. Download the poi's you want from here and put them in a file. Open MSS&T and then import. You have to define which fields you want but that is like the poi. is set up. You just need to remember that the lat and long is reverse in the poi's from what they are in MSS&T. Good luck.

Import POIs into MS Streets & Trips

johnm405,

Quick and easy. Thanks for the tip.

Streets & Trips

I, too, use MS Streets and Trips to plan my trips. I have had issues with the Send to GPS feature, though. It appears to be sending the route to my Garmin, but I can't locate it when I access the Garmin.

If you have Streets & Trips 2010 and use GPX files, you don't need to use the Import Data Wizard. You can use Data - Import GPX File.
