Tour Guide alert question

I currently use Tourguide alerts in order to let me know when I am in the radius of my custom POIS. I have noticed that this works well for letting me know when I get within a specified distance. On the other hand, once I begin to travel past and away from the POI, the alert stays on the screen for a distance much greater than what I have set.
For example, let's say I have a TourGuide distance alert of 2 miles set for a POI. Once I have traveled 2 miles past the POI, the alert stays of the screen (sometimes for a very long time.) IS there a way I can change it to where the alert will go away after a certain amount of time (preferred), or either 2 miles past the POI location?
Are you sure ...

It is an "as the crow flies" radius, remember. Are you sure your are more than 2 miles "as the crow flies"?
Well.....
I am "fairly" sure. I just looked at google maps and where I was today when I saw the alert still on today and it is more than two miles "as the crow flies". So, maybe my question should be, "Is there a way to have the alert turn off after say 20 seconds of it being displayed?
.
Nope, just drive faster...

Keep us posted on the "as the crow flies" distances.
If you have time, whenever the TourGuide in the going away mode disappears, would you try this. Turn around and see at what point the TourGuide shows up again.
This would be very interesting.
Hmmmm.....

Now there is an idea I can get behind.
Tour Guide
I'm new to this stuff and tryinng to really grasp all I can. So, How do you turn on the tour guide thing because I don't see any of my POIs as I travel. Every weekend I travel fomr NC to NYC and nothing shows up. I just have to be passing some of them I know.
Custom POI Files

It's not something you "turn on".
You create (or get) files with points of interest (POI) that you want or need during your travels.
You collect these points into files and you name the files with TourGuide as part of the name.
Then you load them, along with sound files and bmp files, onto your GPS with POI Loader.
There are more details. Start with the FAQ threads, you'll run across all the how-to information.
--------------------
TourGuide files let you set radius based proximity alerts. There are other types of files that let you set up route based proximity alerts and speed based proximity alerts.
Standard POI files, including custom files you load without proimity alerts, are usually used while traveling and you want or need to find out what's nearby. Those are accessed via searches done from the GPS menu.

TourGuide alerts
You'll need to go to Tools | Settings | Proximity Points and enable the TourGuide function. You'll have 3 settings: Auto Play, Prompt, or Off.

Oh Yeah - That Too - Thanx

Of course. Autoplay is the default on my unit so I never needed to "turn it on".
I presumed as a noob, s/he needed to start with, "You need to load Tourguide files."
Thanx
