Nuvi 350 - Suction cup mount

I just picked up a nuvi 350 and was wondering how secure the mount is. I am thinking about using it on my motorcycle in conjunction with the dash mount disk that came with it. Anyone had any experience with how secure the mount that comes with it is?

can't help with the 350, but

can't help with the 350, but the c530 mount is very secure, sometimes too secure I have heard where the suction cup 'sticks' to the window. I mean the actual rubber stays on the window when the mount is pulled off.

I would get a different mount for the motorcycle

The provided Nuvi350 mount will likely not perform satisfactorily on a motorcycle.

Check out MountGuys.com or Ram Mounts and find one that will fit your bike, and hold a Nuvi.

Do not use suction cup on a motorcyle!

Absolutely do NOT use the suction cup on a motorcycle. Your motorcycle has considerably more vibration than a car.

Look at the RAM Mounts. They are very secure. Also, you will need to be careful since the Nuvi is not waterproof.

I have no worries about the suction cup part of it, I used the dash mount disk with adhesive and it is very secure, my main concern was with the cradle, I took a look at RAM's and it dosent look any stronger....

Moturcycle use

I bought a RAM mount to mount me c530 to my motorcycle. Just as a precaution, I fabricated a velcro strap to help secure the c530 to the mount cradle. My unit is not waterproof either. If you have to use the GPS in the rain, cover it with a 1 quart slider zip lock bag.

YEah, and if it fell off, it would hit the road at 65 mph rather then the soft floor that is moving the same speed as the windsheild

Suction Cup Mount

I have the Nuvi 350 and I'm generally impressed with the suction cup mount that comes with it.

Its higher quality than the Cheap ones you can get from eBay. You know the ones that ship from Hong Kong...

Mine Garmin one, lasted about a week before it fell and dangled from the wires.

I wouldn't have a problem taking the Suction cup on a trip but I just bought the friction mount to keep permanently in my car.

Whatever you do, don't buy the crap from eBay. I bought one of those before and its really, really bad. (Even though at first, it seemed ok)

But I drive a car ><

I probably wouldn't trust it on a Motorcycle

ditto on RAM Mount

I bought a RAM mount for my mountain bike, it works great even off road. I bumped into a geocacher on my trails and he thought i was crazy having my nuvi on the front of my bike. I told him I hadn't crashed yet, i promptly turned around my rear wheel locked and i went head first over the handle bars!! However the nuvi was still in the mount and none the worse for wear, which wasn't the case for my bike, i had to call my wife to bring some tools out to fix it!!

The cradel is fine but I

The cradel is fine but I don't think the suction will hold with the vibration. Just my opinion

I don't think there is one.

I don't think there is one. It seems like I remember someone asking that last week and coming to the conclusion that there wasn't one. Unless it was a different model that was asked about.

my experience with the

my experience with the suction cup mounted to the windshield with the nuvi 350 is very poor. the thing falls off all the time.

Use vasaline, it works charms, a very thin coat on the cup and it will stay

Not sure how much different the nuvi and C models differ in the suction cup part.

I've cleaned mine off with alcohol, the cup and attach point. Occasionally I'll wipe the suction cup off with a damp cloth (or after checking wind direction with a wet finger, run it across the suction cup). Insure the release lever is fully in the release position, press hard against the attach surface while moving the lever to the lock position.

I've not had a problem sticking it to the windshield, the permanent attach disk, a piece of glass from a small picture frame, or a round mirror bought from a hobby store. (Experimented with the mirror and glass to make custom mounts specific to my vehicle.) I've not had to resort to using Vaseline, however, I have read else where that it does work very well.

I have the opposite problem

I have just the opposite problem. It sticks so well that I have trouble repositioning it if I don't get it right the first time

Mine almost never fell off!!!!

I did not have any problems with mine falling off until the hot weather came around. FYI, I left mine attached for almost 2 months with no problem....Then, the other day, I went to a location and left the car in the sun. Removed my c530, and then when I came back, put the c530 back on the holder. About 15 minutes later, it fell to the ground. Since then, it has happened once more on a hot day with the sun beating down. Haven't tried vaseline yet, but that is my next step. After that I may try the vent mount.

I had mine fall off once, so

I had mine fall off once, so I actually lied, I windex'ed the window and the cup and that took care of the problem. I had something on the cup for some reason and that caused the problem. But I don't count that as a "fall off" because it was a dirt factor and not malfunction of the mount.
