I don't have any problems right now on my 1490T they are speaking of in the update. Whomever is brave enough to install the update please let us know of any problems caused by the update.....You just wonder how many new problems will be created...
The same firmware update is also available for 12xx series. I updated my unit and so far haven't noticed anything strange. When I purchased my 1250t around New Year, firmware installed on the unit was 2.30 and now it's up to 4.10. It looks like every two weeks there's a new version. I've owned a Magellan GPS for more than 2 years and so far had two firmware updates.
After the firmware update is completed you may wish to run Webupdater again and check for additional available updates. I found the following for my 1490:
Firmware Update for Bluetooth
# Changes from version 1.70 to version 1.71: Corrected an issue that can cause the Bluetooth chip to become unresponsive
Firmware Update for ecoRoute HD
# Changes from version 2.00 to version 2.10: Improved support for Mercedes vehicles.

I am almost new to this whole Garmin thing. I got my 1300 a few days ago and had to return it because it would not update as it was suppose to. The store gladly exchanged it and I'm now rolling. So, would this update come installed when I did my initial setup of this unit? I hope so because this one took long enough as is.
Against my better judgement I downloaded the update to my 1490T. Tried several things and it seems to be working fine. The real test will come on a drive.
Well, I received my new 1390T from Garmin. After three days it is working great. I have not had one problem with it. Much better than three 7X5s that I had. When I went to check which software version it came with, it states 3.90. When I press the software versions bar, it states that I have GPS:4.30, Text:3.90, Audio 1.80(Jack), Bluetooth 1.73
When I go to My Garmin, it is telling me that there is a softeware update for me. I have read that some users have had problems with the latest update. So shall I stay at 3.9 or is the new 4.10 finaly fixed.

The only problem I have had on my 1490T is the blue tooth now works very sporadically. It worked just great prior to loading the 4.1 update. I have talked to Garmin and they agreed there was a problem. It may only be with my phone but they were not sure at this point. I have an LG Dare which is on their approved list but somehow the update screwed it up. They say a fix will be coming out soon. (4.2) If you do your free map update it will automatically load 4.1 so be careful if you don't want to load it. I was surprised as I did not want 4.1 and didn't know it would do it automatically and was told you cannot go backwards. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

Thank You, after the 7X5 updates, I am quite leary about any update. My bluetooth is working great, even though my Palm Centro is not listed. I even get my phonebook. I will keep watching to see when it ok to update.
The problem I had with the blue tooth after the update was it would not load my phone book each time. Probably 1 out of ten tries. I could use the phone with the nuvi but no phone book. Got the phone book every time before the update. Like I said it may be my particular phone.
The temporary directory is on your computer hard drive and most likely holds the downloaded files prior to installing updates to your GPS.
.NET Framework is a Microsoft Windows product which is required by many types of software. Are you saying WebUpdater is requiring .NET Framework? I don't see it listed as being required but maybe Garmin overlooked it. .NET Framework is pretty big and takes quite a while to install but at least for me, since so many of my software installations require it, it's part and parcel of my Windows 7 PC. Although you don't mention it, WebUpdater also requires Windows Media Player 11 and at least Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or newer Windows version.
However, from what I see at Garmin's site, the last firmware update for your StreetPilot C550 was issued Dec. 7, 2008 (version 6.70) so it's likely that the most you'll find by running WebUpdater for your C550 is possibly a voice update or something else that may not be a major improvement.
