CSV handling in POIEDIT

I have some problems with CSV and GPX files with POEDIT:

1) I tried to edit downloaded csv-files with MS-Excel and handle them afterwards with POEDIT. Eachtime I received error messages from POEDIT like "List index out of bounds (2)" and "3 to 3 values expected on line 0". This even happened when I only opened a file with Excel and saved it again.
2) I tried to convert downloaded csv- and gpx-files with POEDIT to other formats such as ov2, but the programme only let me save it with the original extension.

Sorry, didn´t I understand the functions of that programme or do I exspect to much from it or where/what could I made wrong?

Welcome to the site email33

If you don't have a Mac You can download Extra Poi Editor at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor . When you download the program if you get message about OCX file missing scroll down on the main page and under troubleshooting you will find the Extra Poi Editor Installer that you will need to download.

You can load your csv files to it and do any mods you need and save as a Garmin gpx file.Once your file comes up double click on any of the listed custom pois.It will take you to next screen to add any other data.

Another nice feature is that

Another nice feature is that you can build the alerts distance into a gpx file if you want to get around running poiloader in manual mode.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/28521 .I do that for some files.Just load the csv file to EPE use the replace field and set the alert distance for all the custom pois at one time. Then save as a garmin gpx.
