Webupdater repeat the same software version update

Hi All,

Do you know why everytime when I run the webupdater, it always prompt me to update my Nuvi 1350T software to version 4.0 even though my Nuvi is already udpated to version 4.0 ?

I go ahead and click on updating it, but the next time I run webupdater it prompt me to update to 4.0 again.

Thanks

Funny thing - I had similar

Funny thing - I had similar situation with my 765T yesterday.
First I ran an automatic update through My Dashboard as instructed.
Then I ran WebUpdater as suggested by DorkusNimrod - it offered a couple of feature updates which I did. Then, out of curiousity I hooked up to My Dashboard again, and what do you know! - it displayed new update available again! So I ran it again, rebooted, confirmed no new updates were shown.
Then - out of curiousity of course! - I launched WebUpdater again - and of course it offered same updates that I installed the previous time. I didn't bother and just put it away.

I'm wondering if there

I'm wondering if there something funny going on within Garmin's web service side

?

Are you booting the Nuvi after the update before rerunning webupdater? The updates don't actually get loaded until a power cycle.

yes, I powered off and power

yes, I power off and power on the Nuvi after every updates to let it initialize also I tried to do a hard reset.

I figured out the problem.

I figured out the problem. Within my Nuvi device there is a file named GarminDevice.xml It has a tag which is listed which version your system is using.

< SoftwareVersion>400< /SoftwareVersion>

for some reason the WebUpdater did not change this tag to the updated version. I manually edit this file and put in the updated version number and ran webupdater again and it no longer prompt me to install the same version.

Now the issue is why wedupdater did not update this file. At least now there is work around to this issue.

Updater

I have found that if I power up the nuvi FIRST, then plug it in, then click on the webupdater program, the previously updated things are NOT repeated! This has always worked for me with a nuvi 760.

Thank you for this info. I had similar problem, as you described in your first post, with my 1250t.

IT WORKS!

cool

Thanks for the info.... I use firmware Version 4.80 and now I just followed your instructions and my unit thinks I have the latest version 4.90!

Version 4.90 is a unstable firmware for my 780 unit.

It now shows everything as being updated... THANKS

I will try this with my 765T and report what happens.
Thanks for the tip.

Another tip.

For the 7x5, if you have a SD card, remove it BEFORE you boot up. Boot up, and finally attach the USB and let it restart in storage mode. Then run Web Updater. That is the only way I can prevent my 755T from posting voice updates that are already applied.
