Detour display for heavy traffic with Clear Channel

I have a nuvi 680 with the Clear Channel setup. I have not had an opportunity to get into heavy traffic to see how it works. If I encounter heavy traffic, or an accident ahead, will the nuvi ask me if I want to detour? Or, do I have to have an avoidance such as Traffic selected in the setup menu? Just would like to know how it would work. Thanks,
Jon

Detour

If the nuvi is not navigating, traffic info will be announced and displayed without suggesting a detour.

If you are navigating to a destination or on a route, and there is heavy traffic ahead, a detour will be made if you have avoidances set for traffic. If traffic avoidance is not set, the traffic info will be announced and displayed only, without a detour.

Remember that traffic data is received using digital FM from a local broadcast station, so if you are in a poor FM signal area, no data will be received and the traffic display will be grayed out.

Traffic info is usually available for interstates and limited-access roads only, but I was surprised last week driving a four-lane state road with street intersections, when Jill announced the road was closed four miles ahead!

Good luck with Clear Channel! It has worked really well for me.

And even if the "traffic" being displayed is a closed exit ramp x miles ahead, without traffic avoidance enabled, it'll try to route you through the barricades. I therefore suggest enabling "traffic."

More On Traffic

It seem my Nuvi 200wt always gives me a delay of something from 2 to maybe 10 minutes... which is always off. I drive in Chicago and O'hare to Chicago can be 20 minutes or it can be 90+ minutes every time including today the delay read 7 minutes the delay was more like 30. And does the delay time automatically add to the eta displayed in the lower right corner?

Thanks Flip
