proximity alarm

I have a number of custom POI files on my Nuvi 350 but only one "speedway stations" has a proximity alarm. How do I change the files so the others have it to?
Thanks

Here's some info from the

Here's some info from the POI Loader help file.

POI Loader determines whether or not a file contains speed and proximity alert points based on specific criteria. Use the following information to help you create Custom POI files:

• If a file name contains a valid speed number or if all records in a file have speed encoded in the name, then all records in the file will include speed and proximity alerts. For example, a data file with the file name "Speed_30" generates speed alerts of 30 mph (or kph, depending on the type of units selected in POI Loader) for each POI in the file.

• If the file name contains "redlight", POI Loader assumes all records in the file have proximity alerts with a distance of 400m/0.25 miles

• If a file contains "GATSO," "mobile," "SPECS," "safety," "speed," or "camera," but does not have a speed, POI Loader uses a default alert speed of 0, which means you will always be alerted. You can override this default value by entering the speed in Manual mode.

• You can also enter speeds for each POI individually by adding the @ symbol and a number after the name of the POI. For example, a Custom POI named "Ridgeview@25" would create a POI named "Ridgeview" with a 25 mph speed alert.

• POI Loader calculates proximity alert distance based on speed. You can enter proximity alert distance for individual Custom POIs in a .gpx file. You can also enter proximity alert distance for all Custom POIs in a data file using Manual mode.

Thanks for the info

speed zone poi's

Does anyone know when you can download speed zone or speed zone camera files? The only poi's I have are for redlight cameras.

Are there speed cameras in

Are there speed cameras in Arizona?

gpspassion.com has some listed but none in Arizona.

How can you make the

How can you make the distance greater then 1320, let's say 1390.

Just run POI Loader in

Just run POI Loader in Manual Mode and type in any distance you want. The limit is 37 miles.

Is there a way to make the

Is there a way to make the POI file have a Proximity alert distance but not a speed related alarm?

I have many POI files that I would like to set a Proximity alert distance, but I don't want to use manual mode and reset them every time I make a change to one... I rather just have it know what POI files get what Proximity alert distance in auto mode...

The only way that I know of

The only way that I know of to do that would be to be to put "redlight" in the file name. Then I will alert autmatically at 1320 feet (0.25 mile).

speed zones

Well, probably no one speeds in Arizona...I know I don't. Lol. But I'm sure there must be someone.

File change

Yeah, I am the same way, I want to be able to modify the file itself so I don't have to manually set all my POIs. I knew about the Redlight and Speed naming convention, but I wanted other distances then 1320 or the 19xx feet.

You would think if they can

You would think if they can use "Name@30" to let POI loader know the MPH it would be a simple task to use "Name@30@2000" to indicate speed and distance or "Name@@2000" to indicate only a proximity alarm.

I wonder how I let the programers know about this idea...

sure we can do anything...

...or find a way around

How about if you get your file(s) exactly how you like it, with your proximities and all. Then load them (if not already loaded the way you want them). Then, go into your garmin folder find the poi folder and change the file "poi.gpi" to "whateveryoulike.gpi"

it will then always be listed in your "extras" "custom Poi's" until you manually delete "whateveryoulike.gpi" file.

I know that a lot of people

I know that a lot of people have advocated this method (which is fine) but when I tried it, I lost all my subcategory organization in my POIs. For example, I have a folder on my PC called Honda Dealers. Inside that folder, I have a few different files for the dealers in different states.

When I load them the regular way, on my Zumo I get a category called Honda Dealers, then if I click that, I get a subcategory of Honda Dealers VA and another for Honda Dealers NC, etc. Then when I click one of the titles, I get the individual POIs.

But ... when I load them via the renaming method, I lose the subcategories. Well, actually it seems like I lose the category level above that. I will get Honda Dealers VA and Honda Dealers NC directly under the first level of the Custom POIs without the category of Honda Dealers over top of them.

Anyone else see this behavior.

Red light alert

How come I get some symbols instead of the "red camera Alert"? I get "^%&.%$^a", why????

Need more details. What

Need more details.

What unit?

What firmware verison?

How are you loading it?

What version of POI Loader?

What OS?

Which file?

proximity alerts

Do these have different proximity alert distances? "GATSO," "mobile," "SPECS," "safety," "speed," or "camera,"

Mine works fine

Just tried it and it worked fine. I had all my original POIs and they were under the correct categories. The new one also had it correct.
