Vote to Ban Red Light Cameras

 

Anaheim, California voters will have the opportunity to vote to ban red light cameras on the November ballot. The may is spearheading the issue He said he does not want future city governments to be tempted to collect revenues on the back of public safety. Other California cities are also reviewing the cost benefit of red light cameras but Anaheim is the only one so far to make it a ballot issue.

If city government sets up a red light cash machine on a state highway, what percentage of fines goes to the state? The thinking here is that state roads are funded by the state and patrolled by state police. Thus, the majority of fines collected should go to the state. That is the argument currently working its way through Louisiana.
