map update problems

I'm not able to update maps to my zumo 660 using vista 64 bit, with the amd chip. I can down load the map file but after extration I get an error message when trying to connect to garmin. (Don't know if that is the gps or the garmin web site). Updates work fine on another computer running XP. Any suggestions welcome.

.

UAC may be the problem. Right click the file and then 'Run As Administrator'. Enter username and PW. Or, try Compatibility Mode to emulate XP.

Firewall? Antivirus?

From what I've seen, UAC tends to delay installation and even make folks think their computer is frozen, but doesn't result in an error message.

I've updated nuvis with Win7 (as an administrator), both 32- and 64-bit versions and not had to disable UAC or do any of the right-click workarounds, so I'd like to hear what error message is being reported and what, if any, firewall and antivirus/antispyware is being used.

That said, I've also read that a lot of folks being unable to resolve a map installation issue on one computer find that it installs perfectly from a different computer.

Good luck and report back, bdowdle.
