Greetings Everyone!

This discussion group is for the Buzztime Game Establishments (CSV Format) POI project file. Please report any coordinate/address corrections and or updates, closings, etc. Also, feel free to provide comments about the POI. You may also email any changes directly to the Project Lead (which currently is me).

Updated Buzttime list .. how to ?

Hi Vince,

I used to create these as well from buzztime's sitefinder by state option.
Since they changed that format I have been unable to really get useful results.

Any tips you can share as to how to get the latest list of ALL NTN locations (by state or other)?

Thanks!

Similar problems

There doesn't seem to be an easy way to get such info. It looks like each buzztime site is assigned a number, e.g.,

http://www.buzztime.com/site/1
http://www.buzztime.com/site/2740
http://www.buzztime.com/site/36541

so maybe you could use that. If you email them, perhaps they will provide you with a complete location list. You would think they would since it will help bring people to their place of business.

You may want to talk with the people maintaining the McDonald's POI since they have a similar problem in getting a complete list of all McDonalds.

Have contacted them via

Have contacted them via their Contact Us form and via Facebook - no response.
Scaratings (a NTN users forum) does not have much on it either.

On another note, I was able to get the addresses by state from their site, but it is lacking the LAT/LON data. Unless someone knows of an easy way to derive that from normal addresses on a large scale, we'll have to find a way to read from the embedded google map.

There are several geocoders available. Some do lists you cut and paste from a spreadsheet or text file, others will read a spreadsheet file and then find the coordinates internally.

I prefer to use Extra_POI_Editor by TurboCCC. I build a spreadsheet file having all the data except the coordinates and then load it into EPE. EPE will use Google's geocode interface and can write the complete {POI in any of several formats. EPE only runs with windows though.

easy way to derive LAT/LON from normal addresses on large scale

GPS Visualizer's Address Locator at

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/

lets you Geocode 1000 addresses at a time (at least it did a few months ago when I used it last). That is how I create my POI files. 1. Get normal addresses; 2. Geocode them at gpsvisualizer.com

No much luck with Geocoders

Probably doing something wrong, like not getting the right format.
Is there a way I can upload the greater TX NTN Excel file I have and some of you with more experience can try to convert it into a useful POI file?

If that is successful, I can work on getting an all-US NTN fiel together.

Upload the greater TX NTN Excel file

Feel free to email me the excel file and I'll see if I can convert it into a useful POI file for you.

Also check out Garmin CSV file format at
