Favorites in 350 how to download to computer

I am trying to download some favorites from one garmin to another. I know how to do it with POI's, but can not see them in the garmin on the computer. They are there in the 350, but when I go to the gpx file, the file is empty. Also was looking to do the same with the Recent Selections. Can anyone help?

Connect the gps unit to the

Connect the gps unit to the computer you want to transfer the favorites from.Open up the Garmin drive and click on the Garmin folder then click GPX folder. You will see current gpx.Make a copy of it and change the name to temp.gpx and save on your computer.Connect the other unit to the computer and paste copy of the temp.gpx in the GPX folder next to current.gpx

You can also use Mapsource.Connect gps to computer and bring up Mapsource.Click on transfer then receive from device.Once the favorites are loaded then connect the other gps up to computer and click transfer and then send to device.

nothing in gpx file

I opened the gpx file and noting is there. I can open the Garmin and see them in the Favorites file and Recently found file but not in the files in Garmin when on the computer. Any ideas.

CharlesD45 gave you the normal procedure

The procedure Charles gave is correct. Have you tried connecting it to the computer and using Mapsource to transfer the Favorites?

The recently found list can't be accessed so you can't save it.

While the Recently Found can't be accessed, you can save them to your Favorites first.

What did you open it with?If you have mapsource connect gps back to unit and right click on current.gpx and use open with and select Mapsource to open.Or copy current gpx and save on computer and load to Mapsource.

When you click on the GPX folder you do see current.gpx file correct?

I do not have Mapsource, maybe that is my problem. We have 9 gps but no Mapsource. We always just used them till we have a further need, thats what drew me to this web site.
Where do I get the mapsource?

MapSource

Cool trick to get free full version of MapSource.

1. Download Training Center and install.
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835

2. Download MapSource and install.

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

This trick is confirmed on both my Desktop and Laptop.

make sure “show hidden files and folders” is selected

Also make sure “show hidden files and folders” are selected.

For example in Windows XP:
1. open any folder
2. select the “tools” option on top left of screen
3. select “folder options”
4. in the new window select the view tab
5. under the heading of Hidden files and folder
6. select “show hidden files and folders”
7. Select apply and okay.

Hope this helps.

I followed your instructions. That seems like an easy way to transfer the data. Thanks!
