Proximity Alert Question

Hello everyone, let me give you the scenario before the question. I plan on using my Garmin on my motorcycle. Often, I will already know the route I am taking and will have it on to monitor speed, find nearest Gas Stations or food, etc.

Question now, Will Proximity Alerts (such as red light cameras) still work, or does the Garmin need a "route" in order for the proximity feature to work. Do I need to set my priority proximity alerts up as a TourGuide instead?

Thanks for your help!

If you set a proximity or speed alert it will activate whenever you are in range of the point. Distance and speed alerts will trigger if the poi is within about 50 feet of your current path you are traveling. Think of them as rectangular boxes.

They work

Yes the POI's will give you an alert if you set them up to do so when you install the POIs. This was very obvious to me during a Christmas trip when we were in Midland TX and the "Seven Eleven Ahead" kept going off. It seems I missed deleting the alert when I installed the POIs. Really, annoying especially when there is a Seven Eleven every 2 blocks.

as stated...

As stated above. As long as you give your self a proximity alert, it works like a force field. It will give you somewhat of a 180-240 degree radius of alert. If that makes sense.

Yes that does make sense,
