My garmin 750 will alert me of an upcoming POI only if it is on my side of a highway. If the restarant is on the other side it won't alert me even though there is a exit ramp or road to get me over there! Are all Nuvi's like this or just mine?
Avoidance
I dont have the 750 but the first thing is to check your avoidance and make sure that they are set for you. might be the U turns are turned on. My 650 will tell me it is on the left or right.

alerts for POI
If you use the standard proximity alert for a POI think of it as a rectangular box about 75 to 100 feet wide and as long as the alert distance. As the restaurant is on the other side of the highway it's box doesn't reach where your unit is so it doesn't trigger the alert. You can change this by using TourGuide in the name of the files. This changes the alert to a radius around the point rather than a box.

I do have U-turns checked, I will un-check this and try it. I am not familiar with Tour guide but maybe it's time I do. Thanks for both responses
