Are you brand-loyal to Garmin?

I kind of am, but especially on prices that are obtainable on the web. I even thought the co. was European (nuvi?) but when I read up on it, boy was I in for a surprise, it's American. I had always wondered why made in Taiwan, but then I read up on the co......

Loyal

grin Without Question! All I've ever owned have been Garmin units! I started with a Garmin 75, and I liked it so much that I actually purchased two of them. I plugged one into my laptop to run the first version of Microsoft Streets & Maps.

Without a doubt.. GARMIN for

Without a doubt.. GARMIN for us....

All I ever owned (3yrs) and it appears to be the best on the MARKET... But always willing to listen and look at other options..

I started

the thread, so where am I today....well, I bought the Cyclops, so I guess I'm loyal in that the subscription is only good for one device. Also, it's become familiar, just like when you go from a droid x to a droid razr maxx, everything is familiar. But if this second 2350 unit breaks like the 660 did, prematurely, may not be so loyal anymore!

Nope

Just happens to be the most convenient and customize-able of them all, so I use them. "Brand loyalty" is a term that no longer applies to the majority of the population, myself included. The corporations did it to themselves ;P Same goes for "employee loyalty", but that is another can of worms.

Until someone designs a better product

I will stick with garmin.

Indeed

I have the complete Garmin Marine Network (radar, XM Radio, Sonar, etc) on my sailing yacht. I also have two back up Garmin handhelds when I choose to leave the Chartplotter idle on longer, and ocean sails.

I will not update the DVD Nav on my Lexus, @ $275/year, as I'm now using the Nuvi 2595LMT with free updates, after transferring the Nuvi 1490T to my QX4 truck. I'm shipping the Nuvi 680 to my son in Ohio to replace the Garmin Streetpilot 340 that I had given him a couple years ago.

So, yes, without a doubt, Garmin all the way.

Brand Loyal?

Completely. I have no interest in learning another interface. It would have to be a very very good sales person to get me to change. Come to think of it, I buy online, so I am not going to change.

Yes but

Yes I have been loyal but only because every time I compared TomTom and Garmin, the Garmin was more accurate faster and easier to use.

When I get ready to replace, I will be checking out all the brands (including magellan this time) to compare.

I just wish a system would come out using google maps and traffic without using my phone. Their traffic is far superior to other systems I have used.

I was, no longer >>>

as a family, we owned in order...C330, C530, Nuvi760, Nuvi 2xx (don't remember which we got one of the kids) and Nuvi 1490...last 3 are TT 340, 540 and now 1605...the Garmin graphics are superb BUT the TT is a far superior navigation device...took a quick run out to Lebanon PA today...the 1605 routed me exactly as I would have done the trip knowing the roads about 90% of the way to the destination...TT graphics are improving; the traffic is much better, the only real issue is the unit is slow to respond to tactile inputs...not a deal breaker but noticeably slower than Garmin...the converse is true with re-routing...the TT re-routes almost instantly.

Garmin has lost our business.

3rd Garmin

Started out with a Nuvi 350, sold it and bought a Nuvi 855 because of voice commands. Along came a real sweet deal on a Nuvi 3790 LMT.

Since I drive and need maps for Canada, Mexico and the USA Garmin is the GPS of choice for the best and most detailed coverage of these three countries. I have lifetime map updates and lifetime traffic.

BTW: I have always removed any junk files from my GPS such as languages I do not need, vehicles, help files in any but English, MP3 files and audio book trials.
I want the GPS to guide me and that is all.

But to remove these files is not for the faint hearted.

C340

Not sure if i could call myself brand loyal or not, but I've had a StreetPilot c340 since 2007 and no need to get another unit. I did have the battery replaced, and it still works great.

Only seen maybe 3 or 4 glitches, Karen once told me to go South on I-95 to get to Canada (routing was good, voice was opposite of what needed to be done), and another time she kept repeating "MAKE A U-TURN MAKE A U-TURN MAKE A U-TURN" without taking a breath until I could turn.

Never needed to do a "hard reset" or call Garmin for any reason. Quite happy with my purchase from 5+ years ago, so if I ever need to replace the one I have, I'll go with another c340 if I can find one. If it isn't possible to repair the one I have from used parts, I'd probably stick with a Garmin.

So far.....YES!

I have only ever owned Garmin, currently have 4 of them.

The Garmin nuvis are a nice product (usually) but I'm not afraid of other brands for automobile use.

For aviation use, it has to be Garmin. Their interface and product is way ahead of the competition.

STOP

I used this thread to ask what I thought at the time was an associated question, but I was wrong.

I did not intend to resurrect the original intent of the thread.

Please let it die again.

Yes

I am b/c garmin seems to have the best product so far. I wish Garmin would be more responsive to its customers, though. The older models have great features. Garmin seems to be making newer models with less of the great features. I like the detailed maps of the older models with the updoming street names. The new models do not have that.

I love the Garmin's over

I love the Garmin's over other types. Nuvi series are the ones which I have owned, but could look at one of the series for motorcycles. Instead I just would toss my phone on the tank bag to view while riding...

Started with a Garmin XL12

Started with a Garmin XL12 which I still use on occasion. First car GPS was the 680. Instead of updating the maps I moved on to the 755t which I have since passed along to my daughter after purchasing the 3590LMT.

For several months I also was a beta tester for the Dash GPS. Still have it sitting on a shelf. Best part about the Dash was the cell phone receiver/transmitter in it for traffic.

If it's not broken, don't fix it

It's just a lot easier to stay with one brand. I've had several Garmins and usually have a car unit and a hand carried unit in active use. I've got one set of programs on my laptop to handle backups, mapsets, poi's, etc. I once had a Garmin and a Magellan in use at one time and it was a hassle switching between units.

There are features in other brands that I like but the Garmans offer their own advantages.

I love my Garmins

I have had a Nuvi 680 since it came out. I gave it to my daughter. There has never been a problem with it. I have a Nuvi 1690 since it came out and never a problem. I'm stickin with my Garmin.

I've collected so many accesories for my 660,1490 and 2460over the years that I think I'm trapped with nuvi's

Definitely a devout Garmin

Definitely a devout Garmin user and loyal customer. My current Zumo 660 is the 5th Garmin Unit I have owned and their customer support is the best I have found anywhere.
Like all electronics, everything has its quirks, but overall my loyalty is with Garmin. The Zumo 660 has becoe such a constant companion that if it failed for some reaason I would have to purchase another one ASAP.nIt has travel in 234 different countries with me and throughout the USA and Canada.

I also had 3 Garmins and

I also had 3 Garmins and very happy with all of them for the most part.

Yes

All 4 that I have purchased are Garmin

getting a NEW GPS.

I agree with you.Yes no offense to other but I prefer Garmin above others GPS.one thing that I wish it was not like that..You know it very well. You get that brand New GPS and start using, but does it come to anyone mind..in Less then 3 months later here it come a new model, why I did not wait?

As long as...

Like my computers, I will continue to select my GPSr type based on how much software/applications/hacks/freedom-to-fiddle-with is out there.
For example, I was on original Mac's fan but got tired of seeing so many windows apps and tricks compared to Mac and I switched to XP (that was of course awhile back). Similarly, I choose Android for my first smart phone as I was frustrated by all the restrictions Apple was putting in their iPhones.
So for now, I think Garmin has more enthusiastic programmers and hackers (in a good sense) and I will stick with it.

Somewhat loyal to

Somewhat loyal to Garmin.

I'll look for other brand first to see what feature they have to offer and look at Garmin unit to compare.

I never tried anything else

Reviewers says they are the besty and they are easy to use. Good enough for me.

Same

I guess it's just what you get used to.

I have only had one Garmin

I have only had one Garmin and no other so I would say I am loyal. Mine has served me well and I would probably look at a Garmin first if mine failed. It does everything I need so I see no reason to upgrade.

Yes I tried one other and then back to Garmin. Customer service is hard to beat, for me anyways.

2597 Sometimes I wonder..."Why is that Frisbee getting bigger?"...and then, it hits me.

I chose Garmin over Tomtom

I chose Garmin over Tomtom when I made the first purchase and haven't had to make another since. Would tend to stick with Garmin because of familiarity and I've been happy with the 760 but if a better product came along when I look to upgrade then I'm not wedded to Garmin.

Brand loyal to Garmin

So far so good ,it has always done it's job.

The name in navigation

I went with Garmin because I heard it was the name in Navigation at the time I bought my Nuvi 255WT.

I appear to be ...

It isn't that I would say "I am a loyal Garmin fan" ... but I have 5 GPS units and the 4 I use are Garmins ... the one I don't is a Magellan. When I went looking for my latest, Garmin seemed to have the best mix. I used a 3" TomTom One (IIRC) in a rental car in Europe about a million years ago and I recall being really impressed with it ... but their reviews lately have been pretty dismal, so I was reluctant to try one this last time.

CC

Ease of usage

I have become familiar with the Garmin menus over the years, and find the devices easy to use. No compelling reason to switch brands.

My first GPS is StreetPilot

My first GPS is StreetPilot III GPS and now is NUVI 2495LMT.

I know no better as all I

I know no better as all I have had is garmin...like what I have and recommend it for others..

GARMIN nuvi2350LMT...

I am brand loyal.

Garmin is the only brand I ever owned. I bought a 2610, on sale, for $720 in 2004. Was very satisfied with the product and the support. I am on my third GPS, all Garmin, and heavily used with no major problems.

Loyal for Now

I have been using a GPS since a Delorme unit that need to plug into my Mac lap top and have the antenna set on the dash where it may or may not get enough satellites (still have it, anyone collect antique GPS units?). Stuck with assorted TomTom units for to long just because I didn't want to learn a completely new UI. Now on my first Garmin and am wishing I had converted a long time a go.

We also use the Copilot App on the wife's iPad for a second opinion put I'm sold on dedicated units not time sharing on an iPad or iPhone. We use Copilot more as an electronic paper map that puts us where we are on the map to check routes once in a while.
