Great list

Thanks for this. Should come in handy for my sister who is driving across country (Chicago to Seattle) for a temp relocation.

p.s. I also sent in a "Travel Channel" logo as an icon for this (and other TLC) POIs. Here's a link to it: http://bit.ly/cZ3mHo

Converted

Vince,

THANK YOU for the list! It rocks!

I converted your CSV list to KML and uploaded it to Google Maps as well, available via http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=1087...

Any user with 'Google Maps' on their phone or 'Google Navigation' (Android) can use the list by clicking the 'Save to My Maps' button and adding it as a layer from 'My Maps' on their device.

Again thank you!

Just watched

Just watched some of this last night. May need to download sometime to see if there is any near me.

Descriptions

Was "unique to serve waffles with chicken" for Roscoe's House of Chicken' N Waffles in Los Angeles your own description or the Travel Channel's? Because there are plenty of places in NY that have served that for years, like Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem (which may have, in fact, originated it).

Great map!

Great map! It looks like Austin, Texas or the New York Naval Station are the places having the most concentration of Chowdown places. (I was wondering where the concentrated areas were. Thanks.)

Took a guess

The POI describes it as "Waffles served with chicken". The "unique to serve waffles with chicken" for Roscoe's House of Chicken' N Waffles in Los Angeles on the page was my own description. I've eaten there. Don't know why it was on the list and took a guess.

Waffles and chicken

I was out to breakfast last week and they had Waffles and Chicken on the menu-- I thought it was a strange combination for breakfast.

The concept came about from either Wells Supper Club or Sylvia's in Harlem, supposedly when people went there in the middle of the night and were torn between it being early for breakfast and late for dinner, so got both

Philippe the Original in Los Angeles

Philippe the Original in Los Angeles probably is the most listed restaurant by the Travel Channel. I see it on one Travel Channel list after another (they are number 96 on this list).

Known for its French dip sandwiches and a likely originator of the French dip sandwich, they have been operating for more than 100 years.

Today, they were closed due to cockroaches. How can a business owner have everything going for them allow their eatery to be closed by County health officials? There's probably something more going on.
