Closing in on 200,000

Dont know if anyone has seen or paying attention but i was surfing around the factory and seen that the 200,000 member mark is rapidly approaching, Any takers when the 200,000 member will make his/her appearance onto the site. My self, i am looking maybe around 1/4/10.

I was wondering if anyone

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed. We are currently at number 199,422. I think that your estimation is correct. We generally get 200 new members every 24 hours.

Isn't this exciting, I love these big milestones.

Miss POI

200,000 is really pretty

200,000 is really pretty cool. I'm a new gps user and am betting there are lots more like me who received one for Christmas and are checking out the POI sites. This is a really cool one. Thanks to all who contribute here!

One of those new members.

Just got a Nuvi 1200. I'm ecstatic, but the family thinks the GPS is one too many nags in the family--so I had to turn the sound off.

While going to a New Years Party, the GPS directed me to the closest, but a side entrance, to a gated community. My family waved the host's invitation in my face, where instructions to the main gate and the code were given. Sigh! (Why are there so many sperms and only one egg? The sperms never ask for directions.)

While exploring Garmin's site, I chanced across Poi Factory's fantastic site. Suddenly, GPS's gadget quotient increased dramatically. I just uploaded my first POI file. What a rush!

Now I just need to figure out how to make a POI icon.

I was wondering if anyone

I remember when I joined back in thr 40k area alot of people joined since them Show what a great site this is for information. smile

Maybe we should do something special for Foothillrider. I mean we could take up a collection for a box of Cracker Jack's or something. Or, maybe just a good old congratulations would work. That's it. Congratulations on being number 200,000 Foothillrider. You will absolutely enjoy this site.

OK I decided to send a note after all.

Ok I decided to send a little welcome note with a link to this thread.

Hopefully we will get a positive response in return.

We need to be careful not to scare the person too much with our enthusiasm, we as a group can get a bit on the geeky side.

That is awesome

I really appreciate this site. It has already given me a ton of stuff and information on my GPS since I joined just over a week ago.

That's Great

What a site to help everyone with problems for their GPS's. Thanks to you for doing this. It's greatly appreciated.

OK, so where do you find the number of users?

I'd assume that while it won't be exponenitial, the 200 new members every 24 hours won't be a flat growth rate.

153 this last 24 hours

Nope that is the average, in the last 24 hours we have gained 153. Holidays pump us up a bit and we can gain lots more in a 24 hour time period.

Miss POI

Why so few on line?

With almost 200,000 members why do I see only 20 to 50 users on line at anyone time with maybe 35-60 guests?

What is normally the peek time for users to be online?

That's a remarkable uptick. As the newer members let their friends know about the site is should keep going for a while. All those new GPS Christmas presents make a big difference.

Three years and three weeks

My stars!! I just checked my account and I have been a POI member that long?

Holy Moly, finally no longer a newbie! ehehehhe

All kidding aside I sincerely tip my faded fedora to Jon and Maryann to founding POI. Where oh where would we be without you guys? And to all those who have submitted files, a heartfelt thank you. You have saved many of us countless frustrating hours of wandering aimlessly throughout the wilderness.

Congrats on hitting 200,000. Can't wait til the 1,000,000th member is signed up!

Another thing to keep in mind when looking at that number. Only 20% of the people that find this site sign up to be a registered user. That means that a lot of people have found us by now.

Heck, maybe you should just give it to him anyway and see if you can 'reel him in', Miss POI. grin

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Cool info

I never noticed the 'hover' thingie. Cool. Just call me #95203.

So now that begs the question, Miss POI-
I'll assume Jon is #1 .. but who the heck are 2 & 3?? shock

You're #1 with all of us no matter what. (I'm a blatant suck-up).

I bet in reality #4 has the ultimate seniority. razz

I agree about the great site. I just a few weeks ago realized why I love it so much-

Since POIs are so varied in subject, this place draws SO many interesting people & viewpoints. I LOVE it! No wonder my wife asks how my 'poi friends' are every once in a while.

Miss POI,
Since you live in a state that has no Red Light Cameras
(thank goodness but don't tell the Idaho legislators about that revenue stream), why or how did the POI Factory come into being?
