Nuvi 255W voice skipping

Anyone else have an issue with the TTS voices skipping while navigating? I just updated software to 6.10 and hope it solves this issue previous SW was 6.00 and it appears to skip when the map is drawing.

It seems you are not the only one. I got a request last week about the same thing. I modified TTSVoiceEditor to allow increasing the Voice Rate for the 255W model.
The current value (for Samantha) is 45. It may be increased to improve the voice processing speed.
If you get a disabled Voice Rate control, this means the voice rate is already at 100% for that voice.

Follow the procedure on the page. Pretty simple. If you have a problem, just put the original voice .VPM back in the Garmin/Voice folder.

Apparently all of the TTS voices on the 255w are at max because the voice rate control option is greyed out for me and Karen keeps skipping! *grr*

Have you tried to use garmin webupdater to update your voice files?
Does just Karen skip? Try another TTS voice. If just Karen skips, she might be corrupted ...
Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

I've tried quite a few TTS voices and they all skip. I even deleted and redownloaded Karen via the WebUpdater and she was still the same.

i cant change voice rates either . i had tried a long time ago to modify but it wouldnt work . downloaded the latest software version and it still doesnt work . my 255w voices dont skip though.

I read the following on another web site concerning the 255W, hopefully it'll also be a fix for your problem. (Please let us know)
"The issue is using TTS AND North-Up view. It looks as if there is some contention going on between updating the display and the voice commands. So, at higher speeds when the display is updating more frequently, the issue seems to get progressively worse. At low speeds, there doesn't seem to be as much of an issue.
I've tried to recreate the issue in 3D view, but am not able to do so - works great in this mode.
Again, this issue surfaced somewhere between firmware version 5.00 and version 6.10"

My 255w is set to track up and Karens voice skips. Trying to find out what version load it is.

Karen's Voice Skipping
I am also having a problem with the Nuvi 255W sound skipping every once in a while. Initially I was using Karen's voice and it would complete each direction with a noise. I decided to change to Jack's voice and the noise at the end of the direction is now gone. I did encounter one period of the sound skipping though. I had to shut the unit down to eliminate the skipping sound. After I turned it back on, it was OK. Haven't quite figured that one out yet. This skipping and noise just appeared within the last six months or so, after I had run web updater, and updated the voices.
