Which Units Have Best Speakerphone Capabilities?

I recently upgraded from the Nuvi 360 to the 765T because I didn't want to spend the $80 to upgrade the maps on the 360, and, new laws are taking effect 1/1/10 in Oregon about hands-free cell phone use while driving and the call quality on my 360 is pretty mediocre.

I settled on the 765T for a few reasons: Sub-$200 price tag, it has two mic ports on the face of the unit instead or one, it has an external mic jack on the mount, and it has a lot of other features like free lifetime traffic, multi-point routing, etc.

I bought a Clarion noise-canceling clip-on mic from Amazon (clips onto my sun visor), and it works really well with the 765T--the sound quality on calls is quite good!

What are your experiences with using your Garmin as a hands-free speakerphone for you cell? Which Garmin model is considered to have the "best" call quality? What other Garmin models have the external mic jack?

Thanks!

call quality

I have used my 760 on a few occasions on rental cars and found them to be acceptable. Not sure if there is any one Garmin unit that's especially outstanding in call quality though.

Ditto on the 760 working

Ditto on the 760 working well, though I have it FM'd to the car speakers and have to speak quite loud to be heard if I'm going a bit fast. Still, it beats handheld, and it's nice to have everything - GPS, phone, music - in one box.

I have the 760 as well. Use

I have the 760 as well. Use the Bluetooth speakerphone all the time with my Ford diesel truck. External mic. placed on visor, audio output direct wired to radio. No problems at all with others hearing me or understanding my caller. Clarity very good.

I have tried several Brands

I have tried several Brands and models and so far I have not found a GPS unit with the built in mic that sounds good during a conversation. I gave up on the idea of using a GPS and I bought a Parrot device and it worked out better than the GPS.

Speakerphone

I tried the speakerphone on my 885T forget it.
Speakerphone on my 660 was better but not much.

Have a nuvi 760

Use it with Bluetooth and external microphone. Output is via 3mm jack into my car stereo. On occasions when I've used it just with the built-in speaker, it is functional but very tinny.

Nuvi 3597 LMT

I have a 660 with a

I have a 660 with a blackberry via bluetooth.

I installed a GM-AUX9 so I can go directly to the head unit. Its nice. I can get my mp3's turn by turn, RL alerts..and of course phone thru the car's speakers.

It works very nice!
Feedback from those I have called say its sounds good, and of course using the car's speakers makes it undeniably better than using the nuvi's built in speaker.

Also like the external speaker jack on 765T

I also like the external speaker jack on the 765T--I plug a 3mm male-to-male plug into the external speaker jack on the 765 and then into the aux in jack on my car stereo, and voila! I can listen to my cell phone calls over my car stereo--Belkin cord cost $6.........

Does anyone know what Garmin models have the external speaker and microphone jacks?

765T With iPhone

I have mine paired with my iPhone...works quite well, but I do have to turn down the radio and fan when I'm on a call through the GPS. I have yet to see caller ID work...maybe it's only if the person is in your phone book.
