What's your fixation on UK news? Is it the only place you can find stories supporting your position on cameras?
Does it matter where the information came from? The point is, if that's what causes the problem.. then that's what causes the problem. It doesn't matter where it's at.
Look at it another way. If there's a street/road that has a great big pothole in it.. and drivers slam on their brakes just before getting to it, which results in rear end accidents, does it matter if it's where you live.. or across town? Of course NOT!
It's the same thing.
UK and Europe were the first to use these methods of regulation enforcement hence they have the most experience (by about 5+ years), like it or not.
Double post. Nothing to see here...
The article doesn't cite any data that shows exactly how the camera is causing deaths. Only stats, which only tell a small part of the story. Is it using a flash that's blinding people? Is it positioned in such a way that is distracting? Is it jumping in front of cars? Yes, I'm being a little silly. There just isn't anything to show a direct link between the camera the deaths. Maybe you can shed more light on this?
While I'm pretty neutral on the use of cameras for law enforcement, I can certainly see why the Essex police have no plans to remove it.
In my town whenever a cop pulls a car over it always causes a traffic jam because people rubber neck. So we should get rid of the police all together.
In case it's not obvious I'm being facetious. But all of these threads about how evil speed/red light cameras are do get a bit tiring.
