Question about Maps and POI's loaded with maps

I'm beginning to believe that when you load new maps, new Map POI's get loaded too? Is that correct?

I saw different items than I remember from 'before' the map upgrade I did this week (Testing by scrolling maps without getting in the car and actually going anywhere..)

Second question: When I was signing up for the lifetime maps, I filled out the email request so they would email me when a new map update was available... and it mentioned it may be as often as 4 times a year.... Has the email notificaion worked?

Garmin map update e-mail

It is really laughable. The 2010.2 NA maps came out in late July (29 or 30?) I received the "nüMaps Lifetime™ Map Update Available" e-mail notice from Garmin on August 27. Thanks to this site, I had already been using my new maps for several weeks by the time I received the e-mail from Garmin.

I have never received a notification from Garmin, even though I signed up for them. I guess I need to start checking this site more often.
