I downloaded the Starbucks file. It had only one Starbucks entry from my city. However, when I used my Garmin to look up "Starbucks", the GPS found the other 4 Starbucks. Where did it get them, since they weren't in the Starbucks POI download file?
Well
It is in the POI from the Garmin map.

Updates
So, I guess that this means that every time that I update my Garmin map, I will get the newer Starbucks. Then the duplicates from my POI factory POI will be ignored, right?

.
Yes, maybe, and no.
Yes, each time you update the maps, the BUILT IN points of interest are updated as well.
Maybe you will get newer Starbucks, but you might not. The POIs tend to lag behind the street updates.
No. The CUSTOM POIS and the BUILT IN points of interest are completely separate and have no effect on each other.
Starbucks.com
I think it depends on the definition of "Starbucks." There are Starbucks in my area that are not listed on the Starbucks.com websites. I think the standalone stores are on the website but those that co-exist with grocery stores, Barnes and Noble, etc are not listed there
JUST WONDERING
Any news about when the file for Starbucks is going to be updated??? It is well behind
Thank you
Thanks for your valuable help! It is very much appreciated!
BTW, on friday while I was talking to John on the phone at POI Factory about an unrelated issue, he mentioned that Miss POI is actively working on the Starbucks project as we speak. It is a very tough and time consuming project however, because Starbuck's Corporate will not provide any location information at all.

more than one locator web page

I was curious after reading all the posts on this subject.
I did a search for the one remaining location in Cleburne Tx. I discovered two starbucks locator web sites, neither work worth a large concrete water retention device. Further investigation revealed another locator page, that accurately listed the one open location. That makes at least three different locator pages, I didn't look for more.
starbuckslocations.com -- listed two locations, both are identical entries, in an Albertsons, this was closed/removed for at least a year now.
starbuckslocations.org -- has a "name" "city" "zip" search box, or select a state. It doesn't list two cities near me, Cleburne and Burleson. Burleson, has three locations, and all have been there for a number of years now.
starbucks.com/default.asp -- correctly lists the one remaining store in Cleburne, Tx and the three in Burleson.

Starbuck's, oh, Starbuck's: Where Are You?
You have well pointed out the problem that Miss POI is having with Starbuck's. Starbuck's is always opening and closing stores to maintain their presence at profitable margins.
Also, the number of stores being placed in existing retail and government locations is astounding. A few months ago, I saw a new store in the VA hospital in Tampa, Florida. It is listed nowhere! Oh, BTW, it is only open during the VA Hospital lobby hours and not on weekends. How we tell the POI for that location that it might be open when you go there?
If anyone can find a single reliable source for Starbuck's stores, I am sure that Miss POI would be interested.
