POI attractions and activities

Hi There .... this is my 1st post and forgive me if this question doesn't belong here.
We want to find a global POI database to populate a website that relates hotels to POI [ tourism specific ] in a text format. Examples of this can be seen here :

http://www.booking.com/city/nl/amsterdam.en.html
From this you probably have the idea that monuments , attractions ,landmarks are typical of the data type
The data needs to be categorised and global.
Where can we find this data - it beats me , but lots of travel websites have it?

This task will require a lot of manual entry to create what you need. THAT is how it's achieved, and there is no fee lunch. Many travel sites may have them, but it has come at great expense. They are guarded closely.
