Add Proximity Alerts, Keep Comments CSV to GPX for Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx

Good day!
I have tried just about every application and procedure (I am using a Mac but I also use PCs) but I have failed.
I would like to take a CSV file (specifically the Rest Area Combined or selected Rest Area files) and send the data to my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx with 2 mile (3218.688 meters) proximity alerts.
I have found that I need to convert the CSV file to GPX format because the CSV format only transfers a maximum of 4 fields with POI Loader and trashes the comments if using manual mode with POI Loader (and leaves an ugly comment about speed alert unknown to boot).
For extra measure, I would like the GPX file to include the category tag as well if that is permitted with the 60CSx (I haven't tried since I have been concentrating on getting the proximity tag included).
My major unsuccessful efforts have been with GPSBabel, GPSBabel+, POI Loader, csv2gpx, online conversions, as well as reading the documents for GSAK, and POI Edit.
The closest solution I have come up with is that I can import the Rest Area CSV file (or an excerpt) into a new folder in Garmin Road Trip, manually add proximity alerts to 100s of POIs, export the folder as a GPX file, and then load it with POI Loader.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Charlie
Not Me, But...
I don't know how to help, but there are some pretty sharp folks at www.gpsreview.net. Click on the forum tab and then click on the Garmin Handheld GPS Forum and post your question there.

No MACs
You are out of luck trying to do this with a Mac. Click on my user name and send me your address. I'll send you a GPX that you can then edit with a text editor to put in the proximity and category as a search and replace.

With Windows just add the proximity alerts with POI-Loader
If I decide to have 2 laptops one of them will be a Mac. But, I only have one laptop and I chose it to be a PC because PCs get priority over Macs when it comes to applications. With the PC you download the CSV or GPX file and when you upload into your GPSR choose the manual mode and you will get an option to set proximity alerts where you can specify the distance.
Use EPE
Since you also use PCs, get Extra_POI_Editor on a PC. It imports CSV's and outputs GPX's.

What about the comments?
With the Mac version of POI Loader, if manual mode is used to add proximity alerts, the fourth field in my CSV (Comments) never appears on the GPSMAP 60CSx. In the place of comments is two lines stating the proximity and speed alert settings -- and speed says "Unknown." In manual mode on the Mac, you can set proximity or speed but not both.
Is this behavior different for a PC using POI Loader (it might also be GPSMAP-specific)?
Thanks!
Extra_POI_Editor
I will check it out! The easiest way for me to use Windows is "virtually" on my Intel Mac with Parallels or Fusion. Most things work fine but sometimes things get confused on the way to or from the GPSr.
I keep a PC laptop for programs I just can't get for a Mac and that do not work well virtually. It's an older laptop but still Windows XP SP3.
Thanks again!
