ZUMO issue

So, my Zumo 550, which is only 1.5 years old has a problem. The power button came off. So much for waterproof. Of course, I'm told that it's no longer under warranty... therefore, get hit with the $150 generic repair charge to basically just replace the front plastic cover. Tried to just buy the cover and replace it myself... 8 simple screws hold it on. Kind of frustrated to pay $150 for a $5 part. But, it's either that or buy a whole new unit.

.

Ask them how much they'd charge you for a dummy/demo unit . . . . probably a lot less tham $150.

I can understand your frustration but how often does it really get wet. I use a Nuvi 255w on my motorcycle and when it REALLY rains AND need to use the gps, I slip over a clear plastic bag and secure with a rubber band. I know that you paid for a high end unit and want the waterproof, but if it's not under warranty, for my $ I'll improvise.
