Weird thing happened today:

I started up the old Garmin, hit the favorites button and all of my favorites had disappeared. All that was showing were the 3 Garmin offices. Wouldn't have been too upsetting except, that I had to go someplace that I had only been to once and didn't have the address. Luckily, I was able to find my delivery location.

It sounds like you did a complete system reset.

I have done a "complete" reset on a 250 (holding down the button under the serial number sticker) and it did not cause my nuvi to forget any favorites or POIs. Is there a more complete reset, short of something when attached to a computer?

I used to do a complete reset on my Streetpilot c530, although it is difficult to believe it would happen accidentally. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/1132

I didn't do a

reset. All I did was turn the unit on. Thanks for your idea though.
