I have a 755T, it's pretty stable and easy to use. The free traffic is a plus, although I think it's only for major roads.

Garmin Nuvi 465T (made for RV'ers and Truckers)

This is the 3rd GPS unit I've owned. The first was a monochrome Street Pilot, the second one was the Street Pilot C330. Ive been using GPS's for about 10 years.
I recently purchased the Garmin Nuvi 465T and I'm very impressed with it. It has 2 modes: One for when you are not pulling or driving a coach (auto) and the other (truck) for when you are.
Before using it in truck mode the first time you have to enter some information so the GPS can route you around places you shouldn't go, ie, low overpasses, no propane tanks, no commercial vehicles, etc. You enter your width, length, height, weight, hazardous materials, etc.
It has free lifetime traffic reports, photo navigation, provides locations in the National Truck and Trailer Services (NTTS), you can enter multiple-point routing, it displays warning information of upcoming road conditions to make you aware of possible hazards along the route such as sharp curves and steep grades, it integrates Bluetooth® wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker plus many other features.
It's not inexpensive though. It lists for $499, but if it's peace of mind you're looking for and not someone giving you a piece of their mind when you're trying to back your rig out of a bad situation, this is the GPS for us RV'ers.

Gps to choose from

Now a days looks like there are new models coming out at a faster rate. The price is also coming down fast. Now software is more detailed and hardware has to be update.

I have a Garmin 650 (Discontinued) and all maps need to be replaced. I came to the conclusion that I wait a bit more time and buy one that has good maps.

I like a gps with North America and European maps and now I don`t know which models have these maps, some help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Falcao

On Garmins website three different models come stock with both North America and European maps

(nüvi® 1370T, nüvi® 275T, nüvi® 775T)
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&ra=true

You can also look at the option of using an SD card.

Hope this helps somewhat !

Agree, but...

Lane assist is one of the notable features you will get in the 855. It is a worthwhile feature if you do much driving on highways where the feature is available; primarily Interstates in urban areas.

I like this feature too, but it has been spotty in terms of availability. For example, in Cleveland, OH there are a couple of places where it pops up. Then, there's a specific exchange on I-71 that will take you west, or south, or to the airport (essentially 3-way interchange) where it doesn't show up at all. I consider that type of exchange to be where this feature is most valuable. Similar situation in Houston, where there are plenty of "3-ways".

265-need BT

Is the 265 still a good unit, and more important can you run the audio through your car via BT? I need voice alerts and directions I can hear, which is all but impossible with my non BT 350 when I have the stereo on. My TomTom can do it, but I absolutely hate the TomTom and wish I'd never bought it.
edit: Apparently I can only have one device hooked up that auto switches the sound system to BT as needed, like my phone does. I don't want to have to drive with the sound in set to BT, I just wanted to switch over when the GPS has something to say. If I am wrong, please say so!

Nope

You need a Zumo for that. The Nuvis have the wrong firmware/chipset for pairing with anything other than a phone.

The 765T, in addition to pairing with a phone, will pair with a second device ala an earpiece...

Something I didn't realize until after I got mine and found it in the manual.

I'm not sure if that meets your needs, but the Zumo is no longer the only option.

If someone wanted a full time job, with no pay, they could make a list of features of all Garmin units.

I say a full time job because with Garmin releasing another model every 6 months, it would be a full time job.

And I mean a real list. With columns like Automatic Time Zone update, Custom Multiple Routing, User Changeable Batteries, and Waterproof to name but a few.

What might be useful is info regarding how easy and effective certain units are as reported by real users. Lately with electronics, it seems that newest and latest/greatest can sometimes also introduce user problems. Since these things are becoming a commodity, I say best price/value is king!

1490T

I bought the 1490T a few months ago, It's been great. No problem so far. You can get it at Costco, Cheap...

Agree

I agree with this comment. You need to check the features on each model and compare them with you needs. Also, just like wine, more expensive does not necessarily mean better taste (or better features).

Higher Number is Better

I disagree with johnnatash4's statement. I have a 350, a 765T and a 1390T. The 765T is the better value due to the number of features. It also has more internal memory than the 1390T. I would list all of the models on a spreadsheet and compare the features and prices before making a decision.
