Redflex Cameras In the News Again

TechDirt is reporting "Arizona Dumping Redflex Cameras... But Giving Redflex An Award For Innovation?"

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20090914/1932036190.shtml

TechDirt writes: "Arizona has become ground zero with the backlash against redlight cameras, with plans to get rid of them across the state. And yet... Dave Records alerts us to the news that the annual "Governor's Celebration of Innovation" includes a variety of companies nominated for awards... including Redflex, the redlight camera maker who was just complaining that its revenue was dropping due to public opposition to such cameras. Oops."

What OOPS? Congratulations to Redflex

Well, you have to put your personal feelings aside, you did read what the award was for right?
"Governor's Celebration of Innovation" And since Redflex is a Arizona company it only makes sense that they be recognized for their merits.

It always makes me laugh when someone says it's all about Money, Duh, ya think, I do however realize that laws have also been written that make the camera's work and protect them.

And POI files have been written to protect us from the cameras, but you still have to obey the law or you will be ticketed.

So the "Governor's Celebration of Innovation" in the state of Arizona is a good choice and Redflex should be proud. And if you have received a ticket generated from Redflex, well you lost the game of cat and mouse and there is absolutely no reason to be a sore loser.

So slow down, Stop before the stop line and come to a complete stop before a right hand turn.

be the cat and not the mouse, load the newest POI files from the poi Factory and be Aware at all times.

This is contradicted by the article posted earlier by Steve.

Quote:

The largest provider of red light camera and speed camera services in the US admitted yesterday that public opposition has begun to affect the bottom line. In an announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), Melbourne-based Redflex Traffic Systems reported a nine percent drop in net profit for the year ended June 30, 2009. This has come about in part as motorists increasingly refuse to pay automated fines and use public pressure to force cities to eliminate photo enforcement programs.

Will you also be happy when

Will you also be happy when the federal government decides to implement a VMT tax using GPS which communicates data to roadside RFID scanners?

Insurance companies are some of the largest providers for funding to lobby congressmen to push redlight and speed camera legislation. Wonder how long it will be before these same companies insist on being given the information gathered by the GPS?
