Routable TOPO maps

I've been using the Garmin Topo 24K National Parks series. But they only cover National Parks. Are there any routable TOPOs out there? Or how about State Forests?

Thanks!

Routable TOPO

None that I am aware of.

For a good free topo map go to GPSFileDepot and download any state topo. Load the map in MapScource and transfer to you Garmin device. I would put them on the SD card instead of in Garmin memory. That way you can delete and install another state without clogging up the limited space in the Garmin memory.

Good directions are available at GPSFileDepot.

If you ain't got pictures, I wasn't there.

I second those GPSFileDepot maps

The GPSFileDepot topos sets are really excellent and free too.

I have Garmin TOPO for the US...not cheap but these state by state 1:24000 topos from GPSFileDepot beat the Garmin set hands down.

They work perfectly in mapsource too. I sent quite a few Western states to the SD card on my 780 along with the NWtrails overlay. Easy, no cost and excellent maps. No routing on them but still they are great.

I have sent limited portions of these to my Garmin Legend C handheld too for walking.

Really an excellent on-line source of maps.

.

It's very difficult to get routable Topo Maps for the US for Garmin unit mostly because the street map data that contains routable information (eg City Navigator) is expensive.

The Topo data in comparison is typically taken from government sources.

The National Parks and the new topo maps that being released only on SD card so far (I think) are starting to include a small amount of this data. But there's no comprehensive routable topo map available for the US.
