765T bluetooth pairing

Just got a 765T and was able to pair my Nokia 6650 phone to it. However, I set my phone to automatically pair with the Gps, but when the Gps turns on, my phone gives me a message that it is connected to the Gps then in a few seconds it disconnects. Also my phone book does not show up in the Gps. Anyone else having a similar problem or know of a solution?

My Nokia pairs and disconnects about 4 times before it finally pairs and stays paired. It stays paired until I walk about 30' from the 765T.

Automatically pair

Have you tried setting your phone to automatically pair with 765T? What happens with that?

Doesn't matter

The result is the same. I keep blue-tooth turned off on my phone most of the time to save battery life.

Update

Update:

I played around today and this is what I found. My husband and I both have the Nokia 6650 phones.

1. First I tried to pair the phones with the Gps by going through the Gps menus. I kept getting a failed attempt message. Tried about 4 or more times. Then I paired with the phones menu by clicking on the 765 listed on the phone itself. It paired up, but I didn't get any phonebook on the GPS.

Then I did the same with my husbands phone. Same results.

3. Turned off husband's phone. Turned off GPS. Set my phone to pair automatically with GPS. Turned on the GPS. My phone hooked up automatically and the phone book was there. Set my phone to NOT pair automatically. Turned off GPS and my phone. Turned on husbands phone and set his to pair automatically. Turned on GPS and his phone paired and his phone book was there.

4. Turned off GPS

5. Next I set both phones to NOT pair automatically. Turned on the GPS. Paired one of the phones with the GPS using the phones menu (this is the only way they will pair up). The phone paired up but no phone book was showing up. Turned off that phone and tried the other phone. Same results.

6. Turned off GPS.

7. Set both phones to pair with 765T automatically. Turned on the GPS. Got a message that connection failed on the GPS. Went to the phones menu and paired with the 765T. Phone book shows up. Next I disconnected that phone from 765T and paired the other phone using the phones menu. That phones phonebook now showed up.

It seems like the phone has to be set to automatically pair with the 765T in order for the phonebook to show up. When more than one phone is listed on the GPS, neither one will pair automatically if they are both within range. But, if you set it manually by the phones menu, it should pair and the phone book show up. If only one phone is on or within range it pairs automatically.

Hope this helps someone else who is having trouble.

Carol,
Very well written and researched.

Bentbiker, Thanks.
