Day one with 765T

Today I got to see a brief flash of the lane assist and then it went away. I did notice that there are more arrows shown in the top left corner to tell you what lane you ought to be in. Or maybe I didn't notice them on the 265WT.

I don't see any 3D buildings. Maybe there's something I have to enable to see them.

An odd thing happened today when I turned it on... it told me that my map - 2010.20 was over a year old and to go to the website and buy an update. Hello? I just used the free update I was entitled to in the first 60 days since acquiring a signal for the first time... to download the latest update. I did not bring the 265wt back yet... maybe I'll wait a week or so.

I updated to the latest firmware... one part of the Garmin site checked it and said it was up to date, and webupdater said it wasnt. I updated everything that was there with the exception of voices in flemmish, because I didn't have any expectorant on hand (ba dump bump tssshh).

I like the voices much better on the 765.. a lot more natural and less synthesized than the 265. Menu response and behavior is a little different, more jerky. A couple of times one press seemed to result in two actions, as though pressing one icon changed the screen so fast that before I could take my finger off the next screen had popped up and the unit interpreted my finger being there as a press of the icon that appeared under it... resulting in me being two screens in from the first press... hope this makes sense.

More to come as I experience it.

When you can't say something nice....say RECALCULATING.

Garmin 765T newbie also

Same here except I have had mine about 1 month, had previously purchased a Magellan 1450 and took it back after a week once I realized I couldn't add POI's etc. The 765T is so much nicer than the Magellan 1450 in all respects (for my use anyway). The lane assist pops up at major interchanges like clockwork (in Houston anyway).

All updates went smoothly and my aftermarket mount has a stylus holder as I prefer to use a stylus over my fat fingers.

I don't use the voice part at the moment but do tinker with the traffic alerts from time to time and seems to work fairly well and the ads are a minor nuisance but done tastefully.

Garmin convert all the way.
