Custom POIs won't scroll

Did a long trip last week and had loaded several POIs onto my nuvi 760. I had loaded the files in subcategories.

The problem that I encountered was when arrowing down through a list of custom POIs, the mileage to the POIs changed, but the description of the location did not change.

Obviously, this was not a problem if I was in a specific POI listing (Huddle House for example). But, if I was trying to search an entire subcategory (that included Huddle House, Waffle House, and Shoney's for example) then I didn't know which locations were which restaurants.

Anyone else have this problem? I had verified my firmware was up to date before leaving on the trip.

Thanks,
Jimmy

What's in Column C

What's in the POI description field (Col C) of the POI files? If it's just the name such as Shoney's or Waffle House then it won't change. If it is something like Shoney's Bedford or Waffle House Pittsburg, then it should give you a clue. Too many POI have nothing in the description file other than the name of the chain.

Column C

Column C on the Waffle House and Huddle House POI files are the name of the restaurant. Shoneys is the name of the city. But, let me illustrate the problem.

Screen 1 of POIs would read:

Huddle House 8
Waffle House 8
Huddle House 11
Bristol 12 (This would be a Shoney's)

Then Screen 2 would read:

Huddle House 15
Waffle House 15
Huddle House 20
Bristol 21

The problem was that the Huddle House at 15 miles on screen 2 isn't a Huddle House, it is a Waffle House and 9 miles after I passed the Bristol Shoney's I was not approaching another Bristol Shoney's.

Screen 3 and 4 would continue to read Huddle House, Waffle House, Huddle House, Bristol regardless of which restaurants they really were.

What version firmware?

Jimmy, I remember having this exact problem quite some time ago on my 760. Here's a thread from January talking about it.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/19593

This bug appears under a certain sequence, quoted from the above thread:

You need to select "my current route" for the scrolling to act up. Try this.

After selecting your "Where to" destination and its finished calculating. Select

"Where to"
"Near"
"My current route"

Then select custom POI and select a database with a few poi's that will be on that route that have different names and where you would have to scroll to see all of them. When you scroll the names don't scroll but the mileage and direction does. At least on mine.

If you select something different besides "My current route" it works ok.

This was reported by users who have firmware 4.6. What firmware version do you have?

Thanks

Johnc - that is exactly my problem. I have firmware 4.8, but I did test it out and the problem only occurs when selecting near...my current route.

I guess I just won't use near my current route for a while.

Thanks.
