2010.20 Update Issue

I recently purchased lifetime updates. When I went to update my 770 with the North American 2010.20 maps everything seems to be working fine until I get to the screen in the install that says 'Please select the region you would like to install on your Garmin GPS'. The drop down is blank and I can't choose the Install button because it is greyed out. Any ideas?

My free update to 2010.10 a couple months ago worked fine.

myDashboard acting strange too

Has anyone else updated to the latest 2.8.1.0 communicator plug in? I seem to be having problems with myDashboard. It communicates with the device and the test shows that it's working however it seems to get stuck on the myDashboard when it's accessing my device? Not sure if this and the above situation are related.

Re-downloaded Map

I downloaded the Europe map and then re-downloaded the North America map and then it worked. It must have been an issue with the file I downloaded. Who knows....it works now.

Call Garmin

Hmm ... I think most people haven't had too much of an issue installing the .20 mapset. Try redownloading and if the problem persists, give Garmin a phone call. I have called Garmin a few times int he past, and aside from the odd long wait, they have always been helpful.

Map

I agree, download the map again. Maybe it is an issue with the 770? I didn't have any issues with my 350.

Hopefully it isn't a real

Hopefully it isn't a real issue! I have four 770s!!!

2010.20 Update

I updated my 765T yesterday without issue. Now to get out on the road and use it.

Is there a file anywhere that lists the updates from the previous version?

Not that I know of

I thought I once found a site at Garmin that allowed viewing of the map and was zoomable; and that's all you could do, just look at it. At that time I was able to see that some roads that previously were missing were in the maps. Since then, I haven't seen any changes, so maybe I was looking at a 2010 map and the intermediate changes aren't published. Does anyone know for sure if there is a link that will allow you to view the current version of the map before you buy?

No there isn't.

No there is no changelog for the map updates. You can try the Garmin website at https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1456&pvID=30132#cove...

Click on the map and it will take you to the map viewer where you can zoom in and check particular areas that your interested in.

Just checked and it is showing version 2010.20 as the viewer version.

Worked Fine On The 760

I've loaded the .20 maps and everything works great, mind you I'm still on the 2.7.3.0 plugin

Thanks for posting the link to the new version of the map. I was able to confirm that recent highway changes in the area are still not reflected in the new version.

My first post here...have gotten a lot of great info thus far. Thanks!

Got an update problem for you....

When I tried to download my freebee .20 update for my new 765t, the garmin web download manager never started properly (IE7 or FF3.5), I just got the basic "file save" prompt in my browser. So I downloaded the self-extracting .exe file (2+GB) and ran it and got the following error.

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004). Click OK to terminate the application.

So I try to manually extract the file using 7zip and get the same error when trying to run setup.exe under the windows directory. So I figure I'll go through the whole process again and re-download the update file (another 2+GB). I got the same problem again. There's no MD5 sums to guarantee I got a good download, but I can't believe it would happen twice. Is something else going on?

Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, let me welcome you to the site.

I also had problems downloading and extracting the file until I downloaded it to the C: drive. It worked from there but wouldn't work if I downloaded it to another drive.

Try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922279

Not much help, but it's the only thing listed at MS. Make sure all the MS updates have been loaded.

Updates OK

Last night I helped my father install his numaps lifetime option purchased through Amazon. SInce he had not taken the 2010.20 update, it downloaded as part of the process. He had registered his 265WT but had not connected it yet.

Dad lives in Puerto Rico, and had no problems downloading and upgrading his GPS.

Interestingly, apparently Garmin restrics their website to certain areas of the world.

I tried to login into his GARMIN account to load the numaps lifetime number and it would not let me reporting it could not service the account. I gave the serial number to dad and had him access his account from Puerto Rico, and it worked. Interesting.

2010.20

I dl'd the file and installed it with no problems at all. I have the Quest2 on my bike.

I have seen the future and it is now!

CNNA NT 2010.20

It took me three times to get a complete copy CNNA NT 2010.20. The down load manager will freeze and I had to start over.

Now I have it installed in my nuvi 880 and everything seem to be working, EXCEPT it is running very slowly.. I hit the touch screen and it take 3 to 5 seconds for the 880 to react and show a change in the button I just touched. All operations seem to take much longer!!!I sent a email to Garmin this afternoon for their comments.

May want to try

You may want to try a hard reset. Often after a major firmware update or map install the nuvi needs this reset to solve many problems, the most noticeable of which is slow response.

CNNA NT 2010.20 Slow response

Thank You, The reset seemed to have fixed the slow response problem.

So far so good here

mine installed ok

I had 2008 maps and they really fell short. Took the life time version and hope the rest install as easily.

Solved

Previous Quote from me:
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004). Click OK to terminate the application.

Eventually solved this problem by removing the "setup.exe.config" file from the extracted update Windows directory. Once the xml style config file was moved out of the directory the program started right up and updated successfully. Strange!

Blank "Please select your region...." during 2010.20 map update

I've also been struggling with the "Please select the region you would like to install on your Garmin GPS" issue.

Having contacted Garmin, they responded with ...

"Can you plug your sat nav into you pc and then go to start, my computer there should be a garmin device listed double click on this and then open the garmin folder. You will see a folder called voices open this and delete all the voices apart from the ones you use. Once this is done go back a page you will see a folder called vehicles again open this and delete the vehicles you don?t use if you delete them all the nuvi will use the default blue arrow. If you press back again you will see a folder called help open this delete the folders inside apart from the ones you use. Also can you please remove any prodkey files on the unit."

I tried this without removing the prodkey files and it failed at the same point, removing the prodkey files then prompted me for the eight digit product key during the installation, then continuing to install the updated 2010.20 map.

Map update

I hope it worked for you.
I got this same problem with my update to us 2010.20. Solution that worked? Delete file that was downloaded and download one more time. Worked for me, and no problem after i downloaded this update again.
Seems that because it is huge file to download sometimes there can be some problems during data transfer form garmin. So if it doesn't work just try one more time to download. I know it is a hassle, but it's quicker and safer for unit if you will not tamper with "manual" updating of maps.

I thought Lifetime was for

I thought Lifetime was for one GPS only. I have a Zumo 550 and a Garmin 650. Will lifetime work for both?

Bob

.

It will only work on the single unit for which it was originally purchased. It will not work on a second unit.
